Spring and Sprinklers

We recently enjoyed our first over-80-degree day!  Dad was working on the sprinklers and Eliza Jane and the dog had a great time cooling off.

All in a Name

"Mom, was I named after Queen Elizabeth?
"No dear, you weren't.  Why do you ask?
"Our names both start with E-L-I-Z-A, and well, we ARE both beautiful!"

I can't argue with either of those statements and I suppose there is no harm in a six year old believing herself fit to share a name with a Queen.

Observations

Eliza Jane and I have some great conversations.  We both love to talk (you're surprised, right?) and she makes me laugh!  She is often chatty at night because that is WAY better than going to bed.  Tonight was no exception.  I was laying by her in her bed for a few minutes and out of the nowhere she said, "Mom, I don't think The Leprechaun reads the scriptures."  "Oh?"  I said, "What makes you think that?"  She replied, "Well I just don't think they make scriptures that tiny, you know, he's pretty small."  "And besides, HE CIGARS!" I had a hard time controlling my laughter when I remembered a St. Patrick's day decoration hanging in her dance studio.  It looked something like this.

Mom, that's TWO things that aren't very good; he doesn't read the scriptures and he cigars."  Before I had a chance to comment on her observations she piped up and said, "But he DOES leave treats at our house and gold coins in our desks at school so he MUST be a good guy if leaves chocolate!"  I couldn't agree more.

For Grandma

Dear Grandma,

Sorry I didn't call to wish you a Happy Birthday; these munchkins kept me running all day.

Much Love,

Amazing

Eliza Jane had a fairly deep hang nail this morning.  And because I'm a mean mother I insisted that she let me clip it to prevent tearing/blood/picking/etc.  She complied, allowed me to make the painless clip and raced for her "magafying glass" to further examine the wound.  She looked and exclaimed:

"Mom, I have made an amazing discovery.  I can see my GUTS!"

Every child should have a "magafying glass".  The world is full of "discoveries"!
