The Sweetest Halloween

Halloween was great this year! Maddie loved every second of it. She loved helping Dallon carve the pumpkin and even played in all the pumpkin goo...which was fine until she decided to try eating it. She about lost her dinner.
Our good little pumpkin helper.

We had our friends Kyle and Bryn and their kids over to carve pumpkins. The kids lost interest pretty quick, but we were there for the long haul. When all was said and done we had six pumpkins ready for display.
The finished product (left to right) ghost, princess shoe, Cinderella's coach, witch, pirate ship. (not pictured: a scary pumpkin face)

On the night before Halloween we went to the 60th annual Hershey Halloween Parade. It stared at 7:00pm after the sun had gone down and lasted about an hour. There were fire trucks, police, Halloween floats, high school marching bands, girl scout troops in costumes, you name it. And the best part: they all threw candy! Maddie dressed up in her HERSHEY"S KISS costume and hit the streets. Loved every second of the parade and even took off after a dog down the street when I wasn't watching. (Our friend Natalie Hanks is standing behind Maddie in this picture to make sure she doesn't lose her balance and fall over backward.)

Maddie's New Trick

She works so hard and now it's starting to pay off! Most of the time she's pretty steady, but sometimes she still tips over. Madalyn can walk (supervised) while pushing her little stroller and thinks she's the cat's-meow! See what you think! She also loves to cheese it for the camera. Watch what she does when she stops to turn her stroller...always wanting to act silly for the camera.

Apples, Apples, Apples

We had another visitor this month!!! It's always so fun to have someone out! This time is was Marilyn for a few days. She won the award for long-suffering and endurance...Maddie wouldn't leave her alone! Wanted to have grandma walk with her EVERYWHERE!
One of the days she was here we went to the National Apple Harvest Festival outside of Gettysburg, PA. It was a great day. Perfect fall weather, some fun apple treats, and huge crowds. That meant that Maddie did her favorite thing -- rode on a bus from the parking lot to the Festival. She was all smiles...

We sat here and watched some people make apple cider, apple juice, apple sauce, apple slushies...you name it, they made it. Maddie mostly liked the pint-sized fence.

Dallon and Maddie posing with Mr. Apple Harvest 2007. There were all sorts of things for the kids like puppet shows, crafts, a petting zoo, and a big pile of straw that the kids were jumping around in.

We made sure to record for history our family tree before we left. Maddie thought it was great fun to have her own little window to look out!
