No Surgery

Do you remember when you were little and you would skin your knee or elbow? And then, because you were curious and really tired of that big scab, you'd pick at the scab... and sometimes make the owey bleed again? Sometimes that's how Adalyn's situation has been for me. We are starting to heal- to understand- to appreciate- to find peace and faith... and then, part of the scab falls off and we bleed, just a little. Don't get me wrong- we're doing REALLY GREAT! And she is still such a little champion! We went to the neurosurgeon on Wednesday and he doesn't think Adalyn' head growth is a skull problem- just a brain not growing at the rate it should problem- which isn't anything new. We knew from the time she was born she had suffered a serious brain injury. In the NICU she had EEGs, Head Ultrasounds, and an MRI all saying her brain was seriously injured. And yet, she has been able to function at a fairly high level for someone with her brain activity. Sh...

I feel so incredibly blessed to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I'm so grateful to be part of a Women's Organization that lifts and shares the message of love, service, and faith. I am so grateful that McDonald's has Dt. Dr. Pepper on the tap- look... Cramps... enough said. I feel so blessed to have this guy-- FOREVER! I feel so blessed to have Drs. and the technological advances that have and continue to bless my daughter's life! I am so grateful for a husband that will let me just vent- and a sister who likes to be my "EAR".  I am so grateful for the power of music and the Spirit of the Lord in my life-- check out my SISTER'S BLOG to see more-- it is really such a beautiful post! I LOVE Kirksville- two words- BACON FEST! Try free BLTs, pictures with the Oscar Meyer Weenie van, and a pageant to crown "MISS SIZZLE"! Yes, it was awesome. Six Months!

Well it's official! Adalyn is 6 MONTHS OLD! I can't believe it! We feel so blessed and lucky to have her and have her doing as well as she is: She is 12.6 lbs - 2% 24.8 inches- 17% and her head is still not on the charts. It is growing, but really slowly, and the doctor thinks that the front part of her skull may be keeping her head/brain from growing the way it needs to- so we are going to be going to a neurologist in St. Louis to see what he thinks we should do. I won't lie, it was hard for me to hear, but I'm so grateful that they have doctors that can help with this sort of thing.  Adalyn is babbling up a STORM!  She has her two bottom/front teeth breaking through the gums She LOVES bannans and peas and oatmeal She LOVES her binkie and toys that light up She does not love tummy time, but is tolerating it better and better. She loves to be held!  She loves to suck on her left hand and if we don't get food to her mouth fast enough- there goes the hand!  And tha...
