Christmas Day

Christmas Day was pretty great!
The kids got spoiled as usual...
We spent early Christmas morning at home opening presents with the kids.
Lucas was thrilled to get his new MAGFORMERS from Santa and Millie loved her Princess castle.
Scott has passed along his love for Legos to Lucas... and here he opened a huge box!

Millie excited for BRAVE!

Two Favorite Presents!
MAGS | Trip to Disneyland!!!

After Christmas morning at our house, we went for breakfast and presents at Grammy and Grandpas!
Sourdough pancakes, bacon, eggs, orange juice. Yum.

Millie opening her Minnie Mouse stuff from Grammy and Grandpa.

My mom somehow always gets Scott his most FAVORITE present of Christmas every year.
She did it again. Topped last year even...
See the pictures for his pure excitement and joy that Legos bring...

Scott has wanted this VW van lego for 3 years. He saw it at a LEGO store in Florida while I was pregnant with Millie and hasn't stopped talking about it since.
To say he was excited, is an understatement for sure.
It took him a week to put it together... working on it night after night. Not too fast, not too slow.
He had to prolong the fun!

Grammy opening the annual Christmas Calendar.

After Grammy and Grandpas we were off to home for naps.

At Nana and Papa's Lucas got more MAGS!!! He was so excited because this set had wheels!
After we opened presents... we played our matching game! The kids even got their own game this year!
Scott and I didn't totally work everyone like last year... but we still did good! Scoring gift card to Five Guys and Cafe Rio among other awesome things!
Super fun tradition Chris started a few years back!!!

REALLY REALLY excited for our trip to DISNEYLAND at the end of January!
Pictures to come!

Christmas: Random

The kids saw Santa this year...
LOOK! Lucas is actually standing close to Santa for the first time ever!
Lucas asked for Magformers.
Millie asked for a baby.

Church and breakfast with Grandpa and Grammy while Mom slept | Lucas making sugar cookies
Millie and Lucas playing nice (!) | Breakfast Millie and Grammy
Traditional Gingerbread Houses at the Neidigs!
Millie and Alan are now friends | Scotty with the kids.

I wasn't there this night but apparently Millie worked with Alan on the houses
and even gave him a hug goodbye! It only took 2.5 years for this to happen!

Lucas and I made sugar cookies for his guests at his Preschool Christmas Program.
Lucas was very excited for this night.... we had been waiting for weeks!
He participated with the other kids (huge milestone here!) and actually had a good time!
However, when Santa arrived at the end... he was more than ready to get outta there!

Shooting Range

Jamin and Scott go to the shooting range occationally.
Jamin and Katrina go to the shooting range occationaly.
We have been talking about taking me to the shooting range for a few months.
Yesterday was the day.

I got instructions from Jamin... and then more detailed instructions when I told him I had never shot a gun before. Let alone shooting a shotgun at clays.
I had a good time. Let's say my arms hurt... and my shoulders are sore.
But it was fun!
I'll be anxious to go again with Katrina's new smaller gun.
{translate: won't kill my arm because it's lighter and has less kick!}

Scott was like an old pro...
Me not so much!

Target Practice with hand guns.

Thanks J and K!
Let's go again soon!

Happy fathers day!

Happy Father's Day Scotty!
There's a very good reason why these two kids prefer YOU to me 99% of the time.
We all love you!

.30.30.30.

Last week I turned 30. Yup. THIRTY.
I didn't want to do anything extravagant or too costly for the big day...
Scotty had the idea of spending the day at City Creek shopping and eating.
I thought it was a brillant idea!

We at at the Red Iguana in the food court.
Shopped. Shopped. Shopped.
Even Scotty got a new outfit!
Ate at Cheesecake.
Hit a late movie.
It was such a fun day!

This is how Scotty looks after shopping for 5 hours!

Red Velvet Cheesecake for dessert.
One of their best for sure...

Thanks Scotty for taking off a day of work to play!
Thanks to Nana and Papa for taking the kids all day and overnight so we could celebrate!

Lawn Season Closes

This year was a good year for Scott and QLawn.
I honestly can't remember a time when he hasn't been completely burned out by the end of the season... but this year was different. No lawn burnout this year!
Because of a new job, Brent couldn't help as much.
However, Scott was able to find some great help... and cut back on lawns from last year.
I think that made for a good combination.

These pictures were taken on the very last day of mowing.
November 3, 2011

Meet Chris.
He helped Scott about 70% of the time.
The other 30% was Brent and a few other randoms along the season.

Here's to another great QLAWN season!
Way to go guys!

This is what our Saturday Mornings consist of during lawn season this year...

luke and millie squeal and insist on going outside immediately
luke runs to the trailer to clean off the grass
millie jumps into scott arms to listen to some tunes

a mouse in the house

We just got back from Lake Powell.
Great vacation with some great adventures.
skiing, swimming, tubing, fishing, ice cream, cards... and a mouse on the house boat.

does anyone like mice? yuck. i don't. hate them. scared of them.
i have my feet up off the couch just writing about the mouse.

Day 2 in Lake Powell.
I woke up at 4:30am to put a blanket on Millie. As I shined the flashlight down the stairs,
I saw the mouse.
I freaked.
I spent the rest of the night awake thinking about what the mouse would do.
Everyone thought I was crazy nuts.

Day 4.
My mom saw the mouse.

Day 4 (evening).
I saw the mouse, again.

At this point, Scotty took matters into his own hands.

After the mouse ran into a hole of the cabinet for the second time... Scotty and my dad decided to just plug up the hole... then it was decided to use a bigger bottle (Gatorade) with the lid off and a little bait inside (grated cheese.)

I give you the trap...

While we were playing cards, we noticed the mouse actually fell for our devious plan!
So, Scotty then moved to the floor to wait for the little sucker fall for it again.

Guess what folks?
IT WORKED!
As soon as the mouse ran into the bottle, Scott squished the bottle so the
mouse couldn't escape and put on the lid!

VICTORY!
Scott was SOOOOO stoked that his plan worked!

Scott believes that he should be issued a second Eagle Scout Award for his efforts.
I agree.
Dang Mouse.

Scotty's 30th Birthday BBQ

Scotty has entered his thirties...
I had asked him what he wanted to do for his 30th birthday for quite a while.
I wanted to do something fun. Something different than the normal birthday celebration...
I suggested a catered Cafe Rio party feast.
We settled on a BBQ.
He thought I was making too big a deal out of a "birthday".
I secretly think he had a BLAST having his family and friends all there in one place.
(We missed those out-of-staters!)

Dunford Donut Cake = HUGE HIT!
Everyone loved their own donut with a scoop of ice cream in the hole.
(you jealous you weren't there Shan?)
