Merry Christmas To You!

I can't believe that it's already Christmas.  I love this time of year so much and I know it's because I am reminded of the Savior and His birth.  This past week we had a Christmas devotional with our Mission Presidency, and President Chambers read 1 Nephi 11 with us.  It describes Lehi's Vision to Nephi.  I loved it because when Nephi asks to understand what the Tree means, the angel shows him Mary and the baby Jesus.  It was really powerful.  God loves us so much that He sent His son to the earth to be born, live, and die for us.  And now He lives again.  What a wonderful thought.  Jesus Christ lives and He loves you.  I know He does.  Heavenly Father knows you and has a plan for you, and He wants you to remember His son who sacrificed everything for you out of pure love.
This week we are actually pretty busy, which is great!  We have lessons, we're going to go caroling, and on Christmas Day we'll be able to see our families and spend time with members here in our area who are nice enough to invite us into their homes :) I am excited.  I am sad that this is my last Christmas as a missionary, but I am going to give gifts to others that will show them that I love and genuinely care for them.  We meet a lot of people who are lonely, depressed, stressed, or in other ways are struggling.  Especially at this time of year, I want to reach out to people who need to feel the Savior's love for them.  I hope you will do the same, because that is our greatest gift to our Father in Heaven!
I hope you each have a wonderful Christmas and will help others to have the same!
I Love You!

Here Comes "Santa Darth"

Hello Everyone!
Another great week has gone by SUPER quickly!  It has been a busy one!  We had two exchanges and we were able to have lots of lessons and new people popped out of nowhere that we can teach!
Monday we went to Temple Square with Peter and Callie, but it was so packed that we didn't stay for too long.  We are trying to help them both to keep progressing and gain testimonies.  Our other investigator, Victoria, is having a hard time getting to church since her Mom doesn't come too often, so we are going to see if we can talk with her this week and work something out.
Yesterday we were able to speak in one of our Ward's about Elder Ballard's challenge.  The challenge is to pick a date, and then start praying so by that date you will have someone to teach.  I think the Stake is starting to get more fired up about doing missionary work with us, slowly but surely.  I love it!  Transfers are this week, so I hope I stay so I can keep helping the people here.  I love seeing people change and grow, all because of the gospel.  I know that we will succeed most in life when we are living the gospel and keeping the commandments.

I can't believe Christmas is so soon! Read Alma 7:10-13, I know that these words are true.  I feel the spirit every single time I read them.

#SharetheGift

Hello Everyone!
This past week was fantastic!  On Tuesday we had a lesson almost every hour, and then on Wednesday I went to my first MLC (Missionary Leadership Council).  It was fantastic, we talked about Mission Business and Statistics, how to help people change, and the Restoration.  At the end of the day, President Chambers bore his testimony and said: "You mean too much to me for me to let you live below your blessings".  I felt the spirit so strongly, and I know it is because his words were true!  Heavenly Father wants us all to be happy and receive all the blessings he has in store for us.  On Thursday we had a ZTM (Zone Training Meeting) for our zone and our goal for this month is 15 Baptisms!  We bumped it up from 12 since last month we hit our goal of 11.  I know we can achieve it!  Our whole zone fasted yesterday for all of our investigators, and our two investigators, Peter and Victoria, didn't come to church.....so now they can't be baptized in December.  But its okay because everything happens for a reason, and we can focus on helping them with whatever they're facing.  They are both struggling a little, so remember them in your prayers!  We are taking Peter to Temple Square tonight, so we are super excited!  We are hoping that he will really feel the spirit and want to progress more in the gospel.
I loved the Christmas Devotional last night - if you haven't seen it yet, you need to watch it!  I loved all of the talks, and I know that Christmas is all about love and God's gift to us, His Son, Jesus Christ.  We have been showing everybody this video:  http://www.mormon.org/christmas
I want everyone to see it, because it is truly amazing.  It brings the spirit to my heart and helps me feel the love that God has for me and all of His children.  When you see it, share it with someone else!  It will have an impact on them, I promise.
I am very excited for this coming week, we have two exchanges and two trips to Temple Square!
I hope you all have a wonderful week and know that Heavenly Father is watching over you with love.
Love,
Sister Wight

The back story of this picture:  We were trying to contact a family who are not members of the church, and when they weren't home we visited their neighbors.  We asked about this family and they said that their relationship was a little strained because the non-member family had found a wrench in their front yard, thought somebody was trying to kill them, and assumed it must've been these neighbors that we were talking to.  Later that week, we were walking down the street and we saw this.

Cute pony :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello!
Well this past week was pretty crazy!  I can't quite remember everything that happened because I think I'm still in a turkey coma, but it was a good week.  A lot of people weren't home because of the holiday, but we actually have a few new potential people that we can start teaching!  Peter is doing well, although it may take a little more time that we originally thought for him to be baptized.  His wife is starting to come back to church and has some hesitation for him to be baptized on the 13th, so we are trying our best to help them both feel comfortable.  Peter is amazing, he told us he always feels something when we come over and that he likes learning from us.  We told him that he's feeling the spirit!  Now he just needs to act on that feeling :) but he will, we know he will!

On Thanksgiving we actually only had one main meal (with our Ward Mission Leader's family), so I didn't feel like I was going to die, but I will say that I am so over pie.  NO MORE PIE! :)  We also had our first "fried turkey", which sounded interesting but was actually very good!  I was happy to share Sister Kushalieva's first Thanksgiving with her :)
I love serving here with Sister Kushalieva - she is such a great missionary.  She is obedient, hard-working, and fun!  I just hope I can keep up!  This week we have Mission Leadership Council, which should help me learn more about how to be a better STL.  Our first exchanges are this weekend, so that should be fun :) I can't wait!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you still think of the many things you are thankful for.  I know there's a ton I can be thankful for.  The Lord is so mindful of us!  He knows us, and He loves us.  I know He answers my prayers, and I know He answers yours.  He is always there, and if we pray, we are showing our faith and trust in Him.  Prayer is powerful!  I feel that power more and more each day as I call upon the Lord.  Pray to Him, He will listen!
Love,
Sister Wight
