First BYU game of the season

As you can tell by the first picture, this game was AWESOME! Thanks to our neighbors we were able to leave Kiersten, Luke, and Allie at home so we could spoil Michael for awhile. It was so fun to feel the excitement between this father and son who are true blue to the core. They were so giddy before the game, it just made me laugh. We got to early enough that Michael was able to sneak a moment with Cosmo. He was floating on clouds after that! Lance and I were loving it because we got to follow behind L. Tom Perry as he walked to the game. We were laughing as people would stop what they were doing to stop and wave or sometimes, just point. I told Lance, that we can say that we followed in the footsteps of an apostle. He just thought I was being a geek.

It was a close game, and the better team definitely pulled off the victory. What a fun game with so many memories with it. I loved the chance that I had to hang out with two of the men in my life.

Michael & the Wolf

Thanks to the help of his leaders, his Grandma Fuhriman, (and his parents), Michael earned LOTS of awards last night! He earned his wolf, 6 belt loops (Flag football, Collecting, BB Gun, Archery, Music, and Baseball), 1 Gold arrow point, and 5 Silver arrow points. Holy cow! It was so fun to see the Cub Master's (his Dad) smile get bigger and bigger as each award was mentioned. Then when it was time to do the Wolf advancement ceremony, Michael's smile got bigger because he got to choose which one he wanted, and he had chosen the ceremony that involved the Cub Master painting his face like an Indian brave. My personal favorite part was when Michael got to pin the mother's pin on, because I had been at work when he got his bobcat and wasn't able to have that done. So that part was extra special to me last night.

It was a lot of fun to see our Michael earn these awards and see the excitement about scouting brighten. We are sure proud of him and can hardly wait to see what else is in his future. :)

First Day of School

I can hardly believe the first day of school is already here! The summer flew by so quickly and it feels like we should have weeks left. But either way, the first day is here and the kids are just giddy about it. Back to school night was last night and the kids had the chance to meet their teachers, see their rooms, and face the reality that life is about to change again.

Kiersten was so excited and has had her outfit picked out for weeks! When I told her that I was going to wake her up at 7:00 for school, she asked me if I would wake her up at 1:00 am, so she would be ready in time. I had to reassure her several times that 7:00 would be plenty early.

When she got home from school today, she said that her favorite part of her first day was when her teacher told her stories about her kids. She even had her very first school lunch-a hamburger, oranges, and some chocolate milk. Sounds yummy! She was so excited when she got home and I can already tell this is going to be a very fun year for her.

Wow! Michael is growing way too fast! I can hardly believe that he is in 3rd grade and getting bigger and smarter every day. He was so excited for school, but tried to play it cool. He loved that his daddy got up with him this morning and made him pancakes for breakfast. So after telling Kiersten all about what a full day of school is like, he kept reassuring her that she would be fine and he would take care of anything necessary. What an awesome big brother!

When he got home from school, he said that his favorite part was making a cool key chain in his class. He chose his all-time favorite school lunch-pizza. He is so excited about the up coming year, and I am excited to see all that he will learn!
