Toby's 2 months old!!!

Tuesday was Toby's 2 month appointment and he was...
23" tall (50%)
Weight 12.15 (75%)
Head Circumference 15.875 (between 50-75%)

Last night to celebrate we went to the Lantern Festival.  It is SO COOL.  We went last year.  It was one of the first local events we went to when we came into town. (Can you believe that we have been New Englanders for a year now!?!)  We will be sure not to miss the Festival next year.  But hopefully next year we can avoid some of the problems we had this year like-
  1. Mom having to ask the police and volunteers to help her find her head strong 6 year old who said "I just want you to give me $2 for my lantern and let me do my own thing." Mom said no but eventually that 6 year old disappeared into the crowd.
  2. Toby crying the whole drive home.   (normally if he cries in the car he tires himself out and sleeps and cries off and on.  But this time it was all tears and screams until we got him home.)

Here are some of the pictures we got there.

I'm growing up- by Gwen Lee
Mom and Dad keep telling me that I am growing up way to fast.  This week I have down a lot of big kid things, so maybe they are right.
BIG KID THING #1-
I lost my 2nd tooth.  My tooth has been wiggly since before Toby was born, and while we were at church I wiggled it enough that Mom told me I could probably pull it out if I wanted to.  So when we got home we sat at the computer together and watched youtube videos of kids getting their tooth pulled by several different methods.  Mostly by tying their tooth to something like a door, dog, remote control car...  Mom kept asking me if she could see my tooth, each time she wiggled it she told me that it could come out whenever I decided I was ready and we could try to get it out any way I wanted to.  But I kept saying I wasn't ready and I didn't want to pull it out just yet, but at bed time after I brushed my teeth I came down to see Mom and told her that she could pull the tooth out herself.  So she grabbed a hold of it and yanked it out.  It came easily but we had a bit of blood.  I was excited and can't wait for the tooth fairy to come.

 BIG KID THING #2-
I got to change Toby's diaper.  Mom said I'm not big enough to change the poopy diapers because they can be too mess even for grown-ups (Mom went home from church today with poop all over her white shirt and skirt.)  But if I want to change toby's wet diaps she says I can.  Maggie has not asked to help with doing the diaper change by herself, but she does say that Toby has a "tongue thing"in his diaper.  We've tried to tell her what it really is, but she seems to prefer her terminology best.
 BIG KID THING #3-
I have started using a grown up knife to help Mom cut food when she is making dinner.  She says I can use the paring knife only when she gives it to me.  So far I've been able to help her slice the strawberries for our crepes and the green beans for dinner.  (Maggie is still just cutting stuff with a table knife.)
Another cool thing about this week that doesn't have to do with me is Toby's new toy.  We were at our friends house for dinner and they let us put Toby in their baby swing so Mom could eat.  Toby was so content in it that they told us we could take it home and use it until he grew out of it.  Mom never wanted a swing because she didn't want to grow too dependent on it and then never be able to get her babies to sleep in a crib, or want to be constantly rocked and swung.  So she doesn't put him in there all the time, but it has been great for helping her get stuff done when he is awake and she needs to make dinner or help us big girls.

Well, we had a lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa Bryant, but they had to go back home.  We miss you both.  I guess the hard thing about having people come help/visit is that they always have to go home eventually.  But this is always another visit just a few weeks away.  We have visitors scheduled through October!

Daddy's office is in charge of the on base soccer camp this week.  it's been every morning until noon.  Instead of only working 1/2 days in the office, he decided to take the whole week off and it's been fun having him around.  While he's been home he's been busy...

...perfecting Toby's handstands...

...Getting Toby to smile...

 ...Making pancakes with us...

...doing races with us in the back yard...
...and today we are going to go shopping together for some of our school supplies.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa Bryant
We have been having so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa Bryant.  They have been here for about a week and a half and we have been busy busy busy doing fun things.

But first things first.  Toby Started smiling yesterday!

Also, we blessed him this morning at church.
One of the things Mom remembers from the blessing was that he would be blessed for doing service.

Aunt Stacy let Toby wear the outfit that Ben wore for his blessing.  We were worried that Toby would be too big for it.  This boy is growing like a weed!

And last week we went out to do so many fun things.  Grandma and Grandpa took us to Connecticut for an overnighter and we had so much fun.  We went to Fort Adams

And Mystic seaport where there were lots of fun things for kids and cool old ships that Grandpa wanted to see.

Then to Roger Williams Park in Providence, RI

We also had some fun days in Portsmouth

 The library lions downtown
Dad on our harbor cruise that went right past the shipyard where he works

Toby's first boat ride.  He was very good and slept the whole time :)

 Playing pretend at Strawberry Banke

Checking out some of the old homes in downtown
Touring the U.S.S. Albacore Submarine
And playing at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire.

Thanks for a fun Visit G-ma and G-pa Bryant.  We will miss you next week!
