I'm Getting Old!!!

Really though... I'm 3 years away from being 30! Ahhh! But why do I still feel (and look) 21? ;) heheheh jk.  Well, I celebrated my 27th birthday on September 15, 2013.  Because my birthday was on a Sunday this year, we (or maybe I) decided it was going to be celebrated throughout the entire weekend! ;) We started it off by going to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, which by the way is beautiful!!! I ate a whole lot (that's for sure) at some of my favorite places.... Einstein Bagels, Kneaders, Cheesecake Factory, Dee's, etc.  But the biggest thing we did was take our kids to Hogle Zoo.  The last time we took the kids there was 3 years ago on my 24th birthday! Back then we only had Moe and Kesaia, Moe was about 1 and a half, and Kesaia was only 5 months. We had so much fun then, and had even more fun this time around with Moe being 4, Kesaia being 3, and our bubba now in the picture at 1 years old.

My birthday weekend was everything I could've asked for and more.  I spent it with my family, and got to do things that we all love to do.  It wasn't all about it, but my husband still made me feel like it was.  Thanks love for spoiling me so much, and for loving me the way you do! Here's to many more birthdays together!

Here's some pictures from my Birthday Weekend:

New Job.. Maybe?

It's been quite the road these past few weeks.  To kind of give you a quick background, the past few months Fehi has been interested in Union Pacific Railroad.  He applied everywhere, Wyoming, Portland, Las Vegas, Provo, SLC, etc.  After months of applying and not hearing anything back, he finally got an invite to attend 3 different hiring sessions at 3 different locations, one of which was Salt Lake City.  We were pretty excited about that because all we hear is good things about the Railroad, and well my husband has a goal to retire early so he can spend the rest of his time with his family.  So he accepted a hiring session in Salt Lake City.  He did great at the session.  The next day they called and extended the job offer to him.  So the first step was done.  He then had to do the New Hire Registration, call and set up appointments to do a Physical Abilities Test and Get a Medical Examination.  He passed both and was given his info for training.  Second step = done.

Monday was his first day of training.  Luckily for us, training is done at SLCC 2 minutes down the road from where we live.  It's from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, but it's just so much information that he comes home and studies until he sleeps.  Though he's made it this far with the Railroad, he has to pass all his training.  So this is just one more step he has to do.  What we thought would be only 4 weeks of training, is now looking to be 6 months of training (so they say).  He trains 4 weeks in a class, he has to take a test and has to pass the first time with 85% or higher, if he doesn't, he gets only one retake but has to get 90% or higher.  If he doesn't pass then that's the end of the road.  After those 4 weeks, it's then out in the field for 4 more weeks, then back again into the classroom for Conductor training, etc.  I have faith he will pass.  It's definitely a challenge for him, but I know this is something he wants and something we need as a family.  Though he's dead tired each day, he pushes himself to study everything and learn it all.  I guess the way it works is before UP would hire someone specifically to be the crewman, the conductor, the engineer, etc.  But instead they will train them to be all the above.  It saves the company money, but it's demanding on the workers.  I've heard the pay will make up for it, but I guess we'll see when that happens.

It's gonna be a rough few weeks, but I pray and hope my husband can get through it all, and pass these tests with flying colors.  I've never seen him want something so bad, and being the hard worker and great person he is, he deserves it. Wish us best of luck!

Thinking of My Baby...

It's been quite some time since I've last blogged, so I hope to get back on it more regularly, especially since this really is the only journaling I do.  This morning I was looking through a friends pictures on FB and came across pictures of their family with their firstborn son, who was born at about 6 months (I believe) and he only survived a couple hours.  It made me think about my miscarriage and how would things have been if that little one survived.  I don't question that all things happen for a reason, and that there's a greater purpose but it reminds me of what I need to do to ensure I see him again.  I say "him" as if I knew the gender of the baby, but I didn't.

Back in April of this year I had the chance to see my sisters boyfriend, and our classmate, Michael Tuia leave on his mission to Detroit, Michigan.  He stopped by my house on the way to the MTC to give us some goodies my sister had sent for the kids.  We talked about all sorts of things, especially about the fact that my sister had gone through the temple and received her endowments just a few weeks before Mike left on his mission.   Mike then asked me if I've talked to my sister yet, and I said No.  Then he said, well talk to her and ask her about her dreams.  And I tried to ask what he meant, but he said "I think you should just ask her." After he left I got on the phone and called my sister about these 'dreams'.  She started by telling me that when she was preparing to go through the temple, even after entering, she would have these dreams.  One dream in particular she had was meeting this man, he introduced himself to her and in the distance there was a lady who introduced herself as well.  You could tell they were married, but they didn't act like they were in her dream.  My sister later told my grandma about this dream, and my grandma knew exactly what to do.   She researched our family history and found who these two people were.  They were relatives of my grandmother, who were married, but no work was done for either one of them and they were never sealed.  I was in awe, and explained to my sister about how wonderful it is to have such a gift.

Later my sister said she also had another dream.  She said she had been meaning to tell me about it.  She had dreamt that we were all in Hawaii (of course.. cause all my dreams start that way too) and that there was a baby there.  He looked exactly like baby Moe (my oldest son) but he was chubbier and had long curly hair.  And at first I was like "Ok so are you seeing my future baby??".  Then she said that in the dream she kept feeling like this baby was the "third" but she knew it wasn't my son Hinckley because the baby didn't look like him.  And then my sister said "Lani I think this is the baby from your miscarriage." And as soon as she said that I felt this feeling of calmness overcome me, and the spirit confirmed that yes he's your baby from the miscarriage.  We both started crying, and I just couldn't believe it.  I told her it all made sense to me.  My sister is an awesome aunt to my kids, my kids though they don't see her a lot, know who she is and that she spoils them like crazy.  I explained, that maybe the reason why baby came to her was because he wanted to make sure she didn't forget about him, and that we didn't forget about him too.

So yes, I do believe that my baby that I miscarried was a boy.  I will always and forever cherish this gift my sister shared with us.  At that time in my life, I was content.  I was content in not really attending my church meetings often because of work, I was content in not having a current temple recommend.  Granted, I wasn't doing anything super bad, but I wasn't doing the things I needed to be doing.  So when my sister shared this about my sweet little baby, I couldn't help but feel like he was sending us a message to "shape up!" because he's still there, and not to forget about him.  Months later, I've renewed my recommend (yay!!) and we attend the temple and church regularly.  Mommy never will and never has forgot about you baby boy, and thank you for being that constant reminder of what we need to do so we can finally meet your sweet face.
