So I don't think I ever really realized how "intimate" martial arts could be until I saw Stephen and his friend, Aaron, practicing the other night. Stephen has been into kung fu for some time now and Aaron has gotten into jiu-jitsu. They decided to do some sparring the other night. I couldn't believe that my husband was doing this kind of "manly" rolling around in front of our children!! No but really, they were looking pretty tough by the end of it. Once you get passed the whole gay look of it all it does get pretty interesting. They were both dieing by the end of it, but mostly Stephen as the thinks he may have cracked a rib when Aaron landed a knee into his side. Ouch. He's been crying about it ever since. Hopefully that goes ok because my husband needs to work out, he is getting too skinny. The man hardly weighs more than me!!! Well, only like 20 or 25 pounds more and that's not enough!!! I guess me being fat doesn't help me at all either.

los animales en los reales
So we had a little friend come inside to visit us the other night. I call him Ignacio. He was a pretty big gecko that came inside as Stephen was going out the back door the other night. Bailey loved it. She did try to blow him off the wall though. Any time she sees a bug or something she blows at it i.e. spits at it.
It was a pleasure to see this animal around my mom's house instead of the woodpeckers from hell!!! I don't know if I've talked about this on the ol' blog yet but there are some of satan's woodpeckers living in the wall of our bedroom on my mom's house. It used to be just one that I swear has been here since I was in high school. Then, about a month or so ago, he brought a friend. Now they peck like crazy ALL DAY LONG. Stephen has an air soft gun that he tries to scare them away with. Don't freak out, we wouldn't hurt the dumb birds, we just want to shoot em a few times to see what happens and get them out of our wall. So if anyone happens to have a real gun and doesn't mind cruelty to animals, feel free to have target practice on the southeast wall of my mom's house!

Super Mom
MaddiNot one, not two, that's right, THREE kids taking afternoon naps all at the same time!!! Just try and tell me I'm not super mom. And keep in mind, two of these kids are two-year-olds and the other is a 4 month old. Stephen has been working on his car a lot lately and a friend of ours came over to help so I watched his daughter, Sophia, while the boys worked. I have to say that I was pretty freakin proud of myself that they all took a nap at the same time. Super mom, that's me.

Little Slugger
Ethan is playing in his 2nd season of baseball right now. He is on the Marana Dodgers. He plays mostly center field. He loves to play and brags constantly. He has a baseball that when you throw it, it's supposed to tell you how fast you throw. Well his always says he threw it 120 mph. He thinks it's right when in actuality he might be throwing it 20-25 mph. He is so cute. We went to his game the other night and watched him play. He did great in the field but when it comes to batting he's still pretty nervous. He is 8 1/2 and he's in a league for 8, 9, 10, & 11 year olds, and this is the first year where the kids are the ones pitching. So Ethan being the shortest guy on his team is quite concerned when an 11 year old who's taller than me is pitching at him. He keeps stepping out of the batters' box before the pitcher even lets go of the ball. His mom said he's only swung at the ball once so far. Hopefully we can practice with him some more and get him over the fear. But he looks dang shmansome in his uniform!
Under Construction, NOT!
So here's our dirt that cost thousands of dollars. They haven't started on it yet. We did go to the design center and pick out all of our stuff though! Once they get all the needed permits to start putting in utility lines we'll have a house underway. So we plan on going down there and taking pictures of the progress on our casa. So here is our dirt.

Happy Mothers' Day to Me!!

Today was a good but sad mothers' day. Good because I got to spend time with my wonderful family. Stephen made breakfast for my mom and I this morning-yum. He and the kids also got me some flowers and the Carrie Underwood cd. We got my mom some much needed drinking glasses, candy and a cute shirt. And the best part of my day was the toffee and milk chocolate Symphony bar I got at church today! YUMMMM!! The sad part of today is that my last grandparent died. My grandma van was the last one to go and she went peacefully early this morning. My poor mom had a hard day because it was her first mothers' day without her own mom, then her mother in law died today and it's the day after the 22nd anniversary of my dad passing away. And, she was asked to play piano at church for the primary who is singing songs about moms. She made it through but now without a few tears.
I just want to say that I have the best mom in the world. I admire her so much for her strength, testimony, and example. She has been through a lot in her life but she has been a rock through it all. She makes me want to be a better person and better mom. I couldn't ask for a better mom and friend. I look up to her so much and hope that someday I can be close to as great a mom and grandmother as she is. Thank you mom and I love you soooo much!

Mothers' Day Concert
My wonderful husband got me tickets to a Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner conert for Mothers' Day. It was a big surprise. He even went with me!! We sat really high up but could see everything very well. He even took me for a hot meal before hand and subway. Yuuummmmm. That's probably our last date until we move into our house too. It was a lot of fun and I am especially proud to have been there to see Stephen at a country concert.
