Hot Springs Hike

A couple of Robert's friends from California were in town so we decided to all get together and go for a hike. I remembered a fun hike up Diamond Fork Canyon to some hot springs. The day started out beautifully, the sun shining with a clear blue ski. It put Avery right to sleep.

The canyon was beautiful and we had a fun time chatting and reminiscing.
Then out of no where, this huge rainstorm blew in and rained us out. I wanted to continue on to the springs since we were literally 2 minutes away from them, however, one of Robert's friends got extremely spooked by the thunder and lightening, and when it started to hail we gave in, and turned back.
The rain storm turned into a monsoon in seconds, and we raced to get out of the downpour, while covering Avery as best we could with a towel.
Our trail transformed into a muddy stream we had forge through.

The crew after the rain let up, every single one of us was completely soaked through, along with all of our gear. As you can see we're all still happy though.
A little rain can't stop us Thompson girls!
All bundled and ready for home.

Payson Lakes

Payson Lakes was a blast! The weather was perfect, the food was great, and I could camp there a million times a year, as long as the weather was nice.

Avery especially enjoyed the food.

Avery and Brooklyn had many insightful conversations.
We played several games on the campout, I of course won them all.
Avery did really well napping during the campout.
Our home away from home.
It was so beautiful.
Our camp.
Kid's table.
Avery had fun with her cousins, and they had fun trying to get her to smile and laugh. They were successful.

It got pretty cold at night, but we kept Avery well bundled.
Walking to the lake.
Richard was amazing at taking photos the entire time, he would do anything for a great shot.

Avery's so dang cute, this stroller really brings out her eyes.

Robert got some great nature shots.

Whenever Avery got hungry she found a little snack to gnaw on.

Avery's a natural camper.
Our adventurous family!

YELLOWSTONE

Lava Hot Springs and Yellowstone National Park completed our summer vacation.
Our small family along with my parents, my sister Kathy and her kids, plus my brother Josh had an incredible time!
Family Photo in front of the famous Old Faithful

We all drove up to Lava Hot Springs, ID after we all got off work, and set up camp at the local River's Edge Campground. All I can say about it is it stayed trued to it's name, we were right on the edge of the river, as you can see from Avery chilling out in her camping chair.
We all had a blast exploring the old town, and swimming in the local mineral hot pools, even though it stormed on us the ENTIRE time.
The campsites were so tiny our tents were crammed right next to each other, and that was with a double site.

Avery's a natural camper, she didn't fuss at all, and loved swimming, she's our little water baby!

It rained on us all night, and so we awoke to a beautiful sunny morning, packed up and heading to Yellowstone. We didn't forget to pack our little bundle of joy, who's personal chair fit in the trunk along with her!

On our way up to Yellowstone we stopped in Rexburg, ID to fill up on glass, and Robert wanted to stop at BYU Idaho where he started his college career as a freshman.
We also stopped by the Rexburg temple which was absolutely breathtaking.
Robert showed Avery and I around the campus a little bit.
We explored a new building that was built there that looked very similar to the conference center, is was beautiful.

We stayed the night at a lake in West Yellowstone that was absolutely beautiful. That night we walked out to the dock and just looked out on the lake and the stars, it was amazing.
The next day we packed up and headed into the park.
These were some gorgeous falls we stopped at.

Approaching the geysers.
Avery enjoyed all the hot pools, and the paint pots, I just needed to keep her close, I didn't want my water baby getting any ideas.

Kathy, my sister, looking so pretty next to one of the hot pools.
My brother Josh, dido.

My hot husband.
Braden and Grandma checking out the steam.

This was a cool river that the hot waterfall fell into, it was really cool to watch the steam as the boiling water merged with the cool river.
Brooklyn thought it was pretty neat as well.
Mason and Grandpa walking the trails.
Our awesome family.

Avery and Old Faithful!

It was a fun trip, and we were sad to part ways with the rest of my family who when on their way to the campsite and the Tetons, however, we had to get home. Avery was glad for a break, and fell quickly asleep for the long ride home.
