Texas

Last June, we were able to spend some time in Texas with Craig and Melanie's family. It was amazing!

Our new car! :) After about a month of looking, we found one IN Austin, Texas. Perfect place to go and pick it up and stay a week with family!

On the boat.

Yikes! Kevin had a little run-in with the wakeboard while trying to barefoot.  :(

Our "Ward" Campout

We had our ward campout in September. It was really fun...and freezing! It was great to get to know people better and to spend some time in the great outdoors!

The Boy who Lived

Hedwig delivered the kids invitations a few days ago and today was our party! The kids were so excited! They stayed upstairs and watch "Sorcerer's Stone" while I set up the party.

We started off running down the stairs to get to platform 9 and 3/4.

First stop was Gringott's to pick up our galleons. They were given their keys to their vault.

After the kids had money, they went shopping at Diagon Alley. Wands, robes, spell books and pets.

When the kids arrived at Hogwarts, they were sorted into houses. Kinda funny that they each were in a different house. They put on the sorting hat and choose a tie to decide which house to go to.

Livia- Gryfindor

Maylee- Ravenclaw

Teagan- Hufflepuff

Staten- Slytherin

First class up- Charms with Professor Kevin. The students learned to swish and flick and they did a great job of practicing their windgardium leviosa spell on balloons.

Second class was Potions.

Next, the kids headed up to Divination where they gazed in a crystal ball and then took turns reading tea leaves. Apparently, Kevin was distracted by the Professor that he forgot to take pictures of the students, crystal ball or the tea leaves.

Last class was care of magical creatures. We learned the correct way to take care of a hippogriff and then we had a creature hunt outside.

Teagan found the dragon and Maylee found the dragon egg.

After we finished all our classes we headed to Hogsmede for some yummy treats.

Our Butterbeer this year was actually just root beer with whip cream on top. I made a real version last year and it was very time consuming and very rich.

After the kids were on a sugar high we headed outside for a friendly game of Quidditch. I decided to add a little water since it was over 100 degrees outside.

Kevin was acting as "beater" and was actually beating the kids with a pool noodle. :)

We had a few VERY special guests come to our party...

It was a GREAT party. I can't wait until next year!!  :)
