So it is Christmas Eve {HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE} and I randomly find myself with a few spare minutes. The Bray-ster is sleeping, the house is (moslty) clean, and Ben is out on some unknow last minute shopping trip (yes it is 4:50pm on Christmas Eve). I desperatly need to post all about Thanksgiving and our trip to Texas, but you will have to settle for a quick story about my Christmas Shopping Experience.
So Monday I finally get the courage to go out and get my Christmas Shopping completed. While I am out I decide to try on some jeans. After counting out my clothing for the dressing room attendant I set the clothes in the front of the cart in Brayden's lap. One of the hangers attacks him and pokes him in the eye. It was under his eyelid!!! He screams. I quickly hold his head still and get that thing out of there. I yank him from the cart and book it out of the store with Brayden screaming. As soon as I get to my car, and Brayden had settled down, I take a look at his eye. It looked fine, but my nephew had just had an eye accident recently and he had a flap or tear or something, so I drive him to my pediatrician's office. They appreciate a crazy mom and got me in right away. {thanks Dr. Martin} Well as if the actually poking wasn't enough, they had to do an eye dye test. It took me and a nurse to hold him down while the Dr. dropped glow-in-the-dark dye into his eye. The poor child screamed and cried. Then they look at the eye with a black light to look for tears. Thankfully, his eye is fine and there were no tears. And needless to say, I never got jeans that day.
Well my time is up, Bray is waking and Ben should be home any minute. I hope you all are having a merry time with your loved ones...
Merry Christmas,
Katie

Walk like a man, Talk like a man
It is so neat to see Brayden learning how to walk. He gains more and more confidence every day. This week he has gone from a Charlie Chaplin-not-bending-his-knees waddle to OK-I'll-bend-one-knee shuffle to I-think-it-might-work-better-bending-both-knees walk. Although he is getting better and better each day, he still is in no hurry to get back up when he falls. Instead he will walk on his knees until he gets to some furniture to help himself back up.
I am not quite sure what Brayden is saying, but he sure has a lot to say. He has been talking up a storm lately. He has started saying 'lo {hello}, eh-ee {silly}, but his all time favorite word is da-da. He talks to da-da on his toy phone, shouts da-da when Ben gets home, and won't let me forget who his favorite is! Da-da!
Welcome to the new 2008 edition of getting to know your family and friends. Here is what you are supposed to do, and try not to be lame and spoil the fun! Change all the answers so that they apply to you. Then Tag a bunch of people. Have fun and be truthful!

Sicker than a dog
First off let me apologize that this isn't a fun post and there are no pics. I know that's what you look for, so sorry...
On Sunday night my stomach started hurting, but I thought nothing of it. Then it was time for bed and my side hurt so much that I couldn't get comfy. So I sat, lay, roll, couldn't sit still on the couch for a couple of hours. It was getting late and I was so tired I figure that I would be able to fall asleep. Nope. Instead I spent the next hour vomiting. Nice. I temporarily felt better, but was back to not being comfortable 45 min later. I slept on and off (mostly off) until 7am when Brayden decided to get up for the day. After making him a bottle and putting up the baby gates I collapsed on the couch. By 9am Brayden was hungry and bored and I had no strength to peel myself from the couch. I called my mom {THE BEST MOM IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD} and she came right over to both our rescues. I got about an 1 1/2 of good sleep in before my mom talked to her friend who is a nurse. She said with all my symptoms that I should go to urgent care. Yeah. After the 2 hours it took to triage, register, and see the Dr. they were still unsure what exactly was going on. They gave me 2 options. Option 1: go to the ER and get some blood work and a CT that will take who knows how long. Option 2: get an IV and some meds for the nausea that should only take and hour and should relieve my symptoms. Of course I pick option 2. Who wants to go hang out at the ER if it can be avoided? That's what I thought. Well hind sight is 20/20 because 2 1/2 hours, zofran, and an IV later I was in worse pain and was sent to the ER anyway. Only now I am there 3 1/2 hours later than I could have been. I get checked in and triaged pretty quickly but anyone who has ever been to the ER can tell you that everything there takes at least 10 times longer than necessary. My journey started at 1pm at Urgent Care, it was 9pm before I finally got my CT scan. By then I was feeling much better. My appetite had returned and I was ready for diner and bed. But I settled for some water and TV. It took over an hour after the scan for the ER Dr. to finally give me my results...
Kidney Stones
While they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me all day, my body was busy passing a kidney stone. And the reason I felt better was that I passed it before they got me to the CT. However the results show there is another small stone sitting in my left kidney that could decide to pass at any time in the relatively near future. So they gave me a prescription for Percocet and sent me home. Ben and I left the ER, picked up Brayden at my parents house, and finally got home and to bed at 11:30 pm. Not the best day for the Rogers, but I don't think I can say it enough that MY MOM ROCKS!!! She really saved the day. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Got Iron?
At Brayden's 9 Month check up the Dr. was a little concerned that he had dropped off the chart in his weight. He sent Brayden to get some blood taken to find out if he is anemic. Brayden was such a brave boy. He didn't even blink his eye when the nurse took his blood. She said that she had been doing this for 13 years and that Bray was the first kid his age that didn't cry. It turns out he is anemic and will need an iron supplement with his bottles.

teething {I finally have 2 bottom teeth}...
