Pumpkin Day

Every year in October, close to Halloween, we have a Pumpkin Day.

We read this cute book:

It is a cute story with lots of fun information about pumpkins and even fun recipes so you can make your own pumpkin day.

We made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast,

Made these cute pumpkins out of strips of paper,

Roasted pumpkin seeds,

And carved our pumpkins while we watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".

We love pumpkin day!

Bear Lake

In September, we took a four day vacation to Bear Lake and it was WONDERFUL.
I realize that we seem to repeat the same vacations over and over (Jackson Hole and Bear Lake), but why mess with perfection?

The first thing we did when we got there was to check into our fantastic condo (thanks Dalton's!)

This TV got a lot of use.
The closet on left held a Queen size Murphy bed.

The Master bedroom.

Hailey and Maggie's room.

The view of the lake from the back balcony.

The view of the beautiful hills out the kitchen window.

After we unloaded the car, we headed straight for the lake. We parked at the city park and walked 1/2 mile down the board walk to the lake.
It was late afternoon and we saw some deer on the way.

Isn't it beautiful?.

Headin' for the lake.

My cute kids.

We had so much fun. The shallow part of the lake at this spot was so long.

Maddie girl.

Pretty Hailey.

Beautiful Maggie.

Happy Logan

Hubby Adam.

Me. There has to be some kind of photographic evidence that I was actually on this vacation.

After the lake, Adam took the kids swimming while I made dinner.

After dinner we baked cookies and watched a movie.

Day 2 at the beach.
The down side of going to a resort town like this the week AFTER Labor Day, is that it's basically deserted, and a lot of the shops are closed.

The plus side is that it's basically deserted.
We were the only ones on the beach that day!

Sunshine, a shady spot and a good book. Doesn't get much better than this.

This is tubing without a boat.
Not quite as exciting........

A girl and some gulls.

To honor tradition, we had to bury Adam......
(doesn't he look great in my glasses?)

....and Madison. She bailed after the first shovel full of sand though.

Day 3 was 15-20 degrees colder, so we took advantage of the jetted tub. :)
We went to some little shops and watched movies and read books, and went out to eat at a little Mexican Cafe.
It was heaven.

Day 4 we went to the pool again, cleaned up and headed out. We drove up the hill to takes some pictures before we left.
The Lake is so much bluer in the sunshine.

Of course we had to stop at Smith and Edwards on the way home. Our 30 min intended stop turned into almost 2 hours.

Then we decided to break in our new Trafalga passes.

Hip-hip-hooray for affordable vacations!!!!

Repeat

If I have to tell my two year old "Let go of the kitty's neck!" one more time, I may just loose my mind!

Time Flies

Well, it's officially Fall. The Halloween decorations are up, I'm wearing my new comfy sweater, and homemade chicken noodle soup is on the menu tonight for the first time this season. I love Fall. I love summer more, but it is always so fun to have a change of weather, and a change of scenery. I love living in a place where there are 4 different seasons (although spring and fall are sadly too short).
We did have a great summer though and, since I'm horribly behind on my blog updates, I'll give a quick summary of some of the fun things we did. Many of these events need their own posts, and hopefully I'll get to that, but in case I don't at least I'll have mentioned them. :)

Mom and I had our first golf lesson.

Adams office had a "Family Day"

We visited the temple grounds and Church History Museum.

Adam went on the Pioneer Trek with the youth and came back an even better man (though it's hardly possible)

Our Alabama friends the Norris' visited us. We met while our husbands were going to school in Mississippi State. Michelle is one of the best examples of a kind and cheerful mother that I've known.

Josh, Luke, Logan, Claire,Hailey, Maggie, Madison, and Jake. (Leah chose not to pose for the picture. :)) When we met we each had one child. There are now nine collectively!

We hiked to the waterfall in Sandy I used to hike to with my friends when I was in High School.

We toured the SWEETS candy factory.

We hiked to Donut Falls.

Eating doughnuts at Donut falls. :)

We visited Moroni for the 4th of July. We went to the parade and fireworks with some of our neighbors.

Sisters.

Went to Grandpa Heaton's for swimming and fireworks on the 5th of July

Four wheeling with our pal's the Garners.

Camping with Hanson's.

The Red Barn in Santaquin for ice cream.

Spent the weekend in this beautiful cabin in Delta for the Heaton family reunion.

Swimming at the Legacy center.

Threw a Pink-tastic baby shower for my little sis Katie and baby Mable.

Two weeks later, Katie was diagnosed with Toxemia and delivered baby Mable three weeks early. She was blissfully ignorant of the danger to her life. Sadly, her family was not so ignorant and it was a VERY tense few days.

Mable Mae Keele weighed a little more that 5 lbs. Born Aug 2 (her parents 2nd Anniversary).

Maggie turned 8 and had a fiesta themed party.

Adam baptized Maggie.

Grandma Heaton made this beautiful dress.

The ward camp out at The Willows campground.

Ice blocking in Sliver Lake.

A Sunday drive up the canyon.

We sold a car....

...and bought a car (but not necessarily in that order).

We took a wonderful vacation to Bear Lake. The first two days were warm.....

......the last two days were cold.

And Logan turned six!

Whew! What a Summer we had!
