Where Has the Time Gone?

Luke and Ty started school this week!
I can't believe that Ty is in all day Kindergarten now. It feels strange to have him gone for so long each day, but I am happy that he gets to go to school with his big brother. Luke is now in 2nd grade!! He loves school and really enjoys learning.

Jake can't be left out of any photo opp!

Jake's "Blue Band-Aid"

On Tuesday, July 14th, Jake was climbing on an entertainment center (we think) and the T.V. somehow fell off....landing on his left foot. Curt took him to the ER (because I was on my way home from Ohio at the time). After 7 loooong hours in the ER, they were sent home with a splint, a prescription for pain meds and orders to see a specialist the next day. The x-rays and CT scan showed a fracture of the heel bone and also a misplacement of another bone :( The podiatrist put a cast on him and said it would take about 5-6 weeks to heal.

This little kitty was given to Jake by the ER dr.

Tuckered out. FINALLY getting some sleep!
Jake really had a rough time for the first few days....but thankgoodness he is happier now and is figuring out how to get around with that big club on his foot. We go back in to see the foot dr. on the 29th...more xrays and a new cast. Jake wants red this time :)

Ty Turns FIVE!!!

Updated: Ty weighs 37.5 lbs and is 43.24" tall! He's in the 26th percentile for weight, and 58th for height. He's so little and super fun to cuddle with!
Ty turned five on July 2nd, and we just happened to be driving to Utah that day. We gave him one of his presents to open before we started driving that morning and we sang "Happy Birthday" to him too. We wanted him to still feel special on his big day! He was able to play with his two Star Wars action figures on the rest of the drive.
Once we arrived in Utah, Grandma & Grandpa Holbrook took Ty to the store to pick out his remote control car and his cake! He was sooo excited because he was able to get the same exact car that he's had his eye on for months :) Later that night, Uncle Matt, Aunt Natalie, and their 3 kiddos came over for the party. I felt bad that I wasn't able to make a special cake for Ty like I had planned, so I promised him that when we got back home, I would make him one. I threw the Lego cake together pretty fast, but he loved it! After we ate our cake and ice cream, we lit some glow worms on the back patio. Those were some of my favs growing up (because they don't make a sound!) and the boys seemed to have fun watching them grow.
We are so proud of our Ty and the boy that he is growing up to be! He has become such an affectionate and loving little boy....always full of hugs and kisses. He has quite a sense of humor and is always making those around him laugh. Ty has actually become our easiest kid and is such fun to be around! He starts Kindergarten in just over one week and is sooooo excited. We love you, Ty, and are grateful to have you as part of our family!

Ty got embarrassed when we sang to him!

Road Trip to Utah

On the morning of July 1st, Curt got a call from his mom saying that his Grandpa May (her father) had passed away. Curt and I both felt that it was important for us to take our family up to Utah to be there for the services. We ended up loading our van that afternoon and headed to Kanab, UT, where we stayed over night. On our drive to Kanab, we saw the most vivid rainbow! It made me think of Grandpa May and the reunion that he must be having with his friends, family members, and especially his son Bryan who died almost 2 years ago.
We had planned on spending the weekend of July 4th at the cabin, celebrating Ty's 5th birthday. But after talking it over with Ty, he decided that it would be fun to have his party in Utah with his cousins. We were grateful that Rich and Marla had room for us to stay at their townhouse. The boys had a blast there! We had a great time in Utah, considering the circumstances. The weather was perfect and we were able to see a lot of family members that we hadn't seen in several years. We spent the morning and afternoon of the 4th in Grantsville with Uncle Mark and his family. We all had a great time! Curt and Matt lit fireworks in the street by the townhouse. All of the kids were lined up on blankets watching.
The morning of the funeral, Ty started throwing up. Needless to say, I stayed with Ty and Jake...while Curt and Luke went on to the funeral. Curt sang "Nearer My God to Thee" with Natalie, Rich and Marla. Luke and the other grandkids/great grandkids sang "Faith". I was told that they all did an awesome job! We headed back home to AZ that afternoon, and had a super fun time with Ty's vomit and diarrhea along the way :) We decided to drive straight through and arrived at our Home Sweet Home around 1:30am the next day.

Grandpa May's Raspberries

The boys had so much fun picking raspberries from Grandpa May's garden!
They were the best tasting raspberries I've ever had :)
