Boys stats

It's been a while and I keep meaning to post the boys stats from their last doctor appointments in June!  So here it goes.

James at 3 years old
29 lbs (40%)
36 3/4 inches (40%)

Just a little below average on each. He hasn't grown much in the last year... Not too concerned. Doc thinks 3 will be a big year as far as growth goes. We will see.

Davis at 16 months
21 lbs 12 oz (25%)
31 1/2 inches (70%)
Head 40%

Davis growth is great, his weight is consistent. Still not walking!

6th Wedding Anniversary: The Montage

Haws received a free night at the Montage in Laguna Beach as a thank you from work for installing some cabinets (I told him he needs to find more handy man jobs to do around the office!). The night included a free meal at one of the hotels fancy restaurants too! We saved the night to celebrate our anniversary. Thanks to my parents for watching the boys so we could have our over night date!

This was our room. It was on the 2nd floor and had a beautiful view of the ocean. Although June gloom kept us away from the beach and pool, we found plenty of ways to entertain ourselves. We had fun acting like kids in a candy store.

We got dressed up for dinner. Good thing too! That place was fancy!

This is a sample of what the 2nd course was like. $28 for Rabbit!!! You don't even want to know how much my halibut was. Good thing someone else was footing the bill!

 Room view.
After dinner we got comfy and went to a late night movie. We didn't get back until after 1:00am! I still insisted that I soak in this tub before bed. Luckily I slept until 9am the next morning. Have not done that in forever!

The next morning we walked the hotel grounds and went to the gym. Pretty uneventful, but it was Sunday and we had to get home to pick up the kids. I think we should do this every year! :)

Disneyland Memories

Our Disneyland passes are blocked out for the summer, so we had to say goodbye to our weekly Disneyland trips until the end of August. I honestly would never want to go to dland during the summer. It's too crowded and too hot for my liking. As we took our last trip with our dland buddies, The Mans Clan... Cinnamon pointed out that I needed to document a few things to remember from our recent trips.

One trip I left Davis with Aunt Brooke and took Caroline and James for a
big kid" day at dland. We were outside the Little Mermaid, James and Caroline where in the double stroller "sharing" blueberries and watching a parade. Of course James was stuffing the blueberries into his mouth so that Caroline wouldn't eat them all... and all of a sudden a woman walking by says "I think he is choking!" It took me a second to realize she was talking about James since I couldn't see his face. Luckily he wasn't strapped in the stroller so I was able to grab him, flip him over and do a quick Heimlich maneuver. The blueberries shot out of his mouth and he was fine. Thank goodness. We were able to laugh about it about 20 min after the incident... but it shook me up a bit.

 These kids are the cutest!

James started potty training during our regular visits and of course started to refusing to wear a pull up while we were there. We only had one pee pee accident in all those trips! It was right outside the Mater ride.I had run into and old friend and we were talking while James and the kids played around a trash can. He was so excited. jumping up and down and all of a sudden I see the pee running down his leg. Awesome. James was scared of the automatic flushers for a while, so we knew where every self flushing toilet was. He would say "Big Disneyland toilets are scary!" I guess they kind of are. Between James and I, Cinnamon would joke that the bathroom was our favorite attractions!

One night I took James all by himself and met up with Cinnamon and Max. James decided he wanted to walk, so we didn't bring the stroller. We stayed late, got ice cream cones and watched the fireworks. As we were walking back to the car, James said to me... for the first time ever... "I am so tired mom! will you carry me?" Now I know how to wear him out.

I already wrote a post about James puking all over the place in California Adventure. That is a memory I will never forget. The disney crew continues to amazing me! One time I had a vitamin water stolen from my stroller and a working got me a voucher for a new one. What great people they have working there!

One of the boys favorite rides is the casey junior ride. My boys both drool like crazy. (james has actually gotten better). During one ride James drooled all over Cinnamon's foot. It was gross... luckily she is a good sport!

One day, while it was getting close to summer, it was crowded and hot. I decided just to let James play  in the water area in bugs land. He got soaked! Even Davis got in on the action. Luckily I always bring a change of clothes just in case. The had so much fun... it was a perfect activity for a hot crowded day.

It was always fun when I was by myself in the baby center trying to get both boys in their pjs before the ride home. I would put them both on the changing table just praying no one tried to leap off, and then wrestle with them to get their PJs on. Davis would inevitable find a light switch and turn the lights off at some point during the changing routine. The good thing is almost everyone in their is struggling with their kids and no one cares if yours are being crazy too. Those baby centers are amazing!

There are so many more memories I am sure I am forgetting. Can't wait to go back in the fall and make some more :)

Hexberg Clan in town

Over the Easter break all of Haws' siblings came into town. It was fun seeing them all, it's been years since we were all together. We took Hexberg family pictures while they were here and it was surreal... during the big family shot not a single kid was crying or running away! I am anxious to see how they turned out. Although I didn't get many pictures with all of us together, I like these ones of all the kids looking at the huge fish tank where we went to dinner. Thor is the only one I could get to look at me.

New Bike Trailer

We got a new bike trailer from my parents for Davis' birthday.
He enjoyed the ride, but he was not very happy about wearing the helmet.

Brotherly love

Just a few videos of the boys.

James love feeding Davis

James has recently decided that he doesn't need a nap everyday (although he probably still does). On the days he doesn't nap, things like this happen:

Disneyland pics

We go to Disneyland almost once a week. Gotta get as much use out of our passes as we can because we probably won't renew for a while.

James ended up getting sick while we were at disneyland and threw up 2 times at the park. The disneyland workers were great! They took care of the mess and offered to give him a change of clothes. I had brought his PJs, so we didn't need them, but they came and found us and gave James 4 cars buttons.

First time on autopia... he ended up driving of course.

Dirt and Trucks

One of James' favorite past times is playing with his trucks in the dirt. Davis is the perfect observer.
This is the boys having some fun at Nana and Bop's house. And no, this wasn't Christmas time despite Davis' pjs. It was Easter.

We survived Tax season!

Tax season was not as horrible as I thought it was going to be, but it did have it's moments. It was hard being a single parent and I think it was even harder on Haws to go days with out seeing the kids. The kids seemed to be effected as well. Suddenly James has grown very attached to me and clings onto me and cries if I have to go somewhere. Some days everyone is just emotional. I have had to really learn to practice more patience. Some days that is easier than others. We tried to keep busy and spent time with friends and family.
But some days looked like this:

Or this

Is it horrible that sometimes during meltdowns I can't stop myself from giggling? It is the only thing that keeps me sain.

Slide fun

My boys love slides! I love these play by play pictures of them playing on our little slide.

"James, go down backwards!"

"Here, I will help you". Mom: "this is not a good idea".

"Here I come!"

"Hahaha... that was fun!"

And this video of James going down the big slide at the bounce house cracks me up.

Davis 12-13 months

I got the flu. It was bad for the first 20 hours, but the nausea has ceased and I now feel like I can do more than lay on the couch. I had a girls overnighter planned to celebrate tax season over (Haws and I are celebrating over the weekend), unfortunately we had to cancel it, but at least my mom was already set up to watch the boys! So I have been able to lay around and rest today with out worrying about taking care of the kids. Thank you mom... you are the best!
So since I am couch bound, I decided it was time to catch up on the blog. I will start with Davis.

Davis is now 13 months. He is developing quite the personality. He is a ham and thinks he is so funny. I love that he laughs at himself and he finds James very entertaining. Davis and James have their good days and their bad. Davis adores his older brother. I know James loves Davis as well, but some days he has no patience for him. I have had to break up a fight or two :)
At Davis' 1 year check up he was:
20.8 lbs (broke into the 25th %)
30 inches (75th %)
He is still our tall and slender boy.
Davis is an amazing eater! He will eat anything you give him and eats a good amount. We just cut out daytime bottles, so he gets one in the morning, one at night and sippy's during the day.
Davis is still not walking yet. He started cruising along the furniture a couple weeks ago and I know it will be here sooner or later. He has mastered going up the stairs and will scoot him self down, feet first. He is a quick one. You set him down and he takes off! He loves climbing onto the dish washer when I am doing dishes, crawling into the bathrooms any chance he gets, loves the stairs, pulling things off the shelves and chucking things on the ground (usually food).
Davis loves playing peakaboo with his "hammy" hippo. He also loves a good motor boat. He is staring to have a little separation anxiety and will cry when Haws or I leave. But not for very long. He is still mild mannered.
Davis says a few "words". Da-da, Ma-ma, tat-tat for that, buh for ball.
Davis seems like he has grown so much in the last month or so. He is losing his baby look and looking more like a toddler. Good thing he is still pretty bald, makes him look more like a baby :)

Happy Birthday Davis!

Davis started his birthday with waffles topped with honey, peanut butter and bananas, and ended the day with chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I would say it was a good day!
I will write more about Davis at age one later...

Here is James at age 1, wearing the same shirt, with the same drool marks and eating waffles too!
Some people tell me how much my boys look alike... I just don't see it. I think they look like brothers, but I think they have such a different look... both equally cute though :)

Haws got home in time from work to join us in singing happy birthday and watching Davis eat his first piece of cake. I think he liked it :)

And more pictures of the cakefest.

It doesn't get much better than a baby covered in chocolate cake. Doesn't he look delicious??

Funny James

I just wanted to write down a few things about James so that I don't forget them.

At night, we read 1-2 books before bed. Recently James wants me to sing the books. If I start reading them, he will realize it once we get through the first few pages and say "no mommy, sing the book to me!".
He also wants me to sing him songs before bed. (stalling tactics) He says "sing me the temple song" and I sing I love to see the Temple. Then it's "sing the other Temple song", so I sing Families can be Together Forever". I try to cut him off after 2, but everyone once in a while he can get me to sing Sweet Baby James. This one can get me a little teary eyed because my baby James is growing up so fast.

He has become quite bossy lately. Maybe I am rubbing off on him since I am constantly saying, put that away, time to go potty, don't push your brother, eat one more bite, etc. I do say please most of the time and make sure he says please before he gets anything he is asking for.
He is learning to have manners and instead of saying NO flat out when we ask him to do something, he says "No thank you".

Time to eat James: No thank you
Time to go potty: No thank you
Time for a bath: No thank you.
you get the idea.

No beware of TMI here. I have stopped nursing and well... things have changed in my body. I was telling Haws about how certain parts have shrunk (just in case he hadn't noticed). Later that evening I was getting in the shower with James (time saver) and he says "oh no mommy, you have BIG boobies! I want to see them!". Oh no... what is happening here??? I didn't know how to respond at the moment, so I just said "thank you James, but lets not say that anymore. Those are mommy's private parts." To which he replied. "Ok mom, but I like your big boobies". Ugh. They start so young!

James is really into giving things names. We will be looking at a book and their will be pictures of animals. He will point to one and say "what is his name?" and I will say it's a bear or whatever it is and he says "No, what's his NAME?" to which I make up some name. Bob the bear, GG the Giraffe  Daffy the Duck.

One more I can think of right now that makes me laugh is when we are doing something and he doesn't like what is coming next, he says "that is not what happens" or "that is not happening right now". Where does he get these things? I know there are more, but this is all I can think of right now.

Instagram

Some of my favorite pictures are the ones I post on Instagram. Here are a bunch from the last few months that I wanted to make sure I documented.

James and I painted these. Everything he painted he wanted to turn into a truck.
SO here we have an excavator, big rig and garbage truck.

James has crazy bed head. This was before he got it cut.

Dana, Chase and I waiting for Jack Reacher to start.

Dana found this gem to turn in to the Ellen Show for her Hot Glam Girls segment.

The boys love books. I love when I find them reading together.

Matching Jammies

We have been taking a lot of trips to Disneyland.

One day I took Caroline while Brooke watched Davis for me. These two had so much fun! They really love being together. We often meet up with Cinnamon, Max and Libby, which is one of my favorite things about having a pass... going with friends.

I love their expressions in this picture

Super Bowl party at John and Brooke's house.
Davis loved Macy... and loved sharing his dinner with her.

Playing dress up. Fireman and "Construction Worker".

For ValentinesDay, Haws knows I don't want him to get me flowers. They are over priced and die. So instead he got me this... A Flower Pot! Such a clever idea :)

My friends own the Longboards ice cream company. When I was driving, I spotted the food truck and decided it was time for James to have his first longboard ice cream. I was able to catch up with my friend while James proceeded to eat the entire ice cream! I was amazed... those things are huge! I was even more amazed that he didn't get a stomach ache from it.
