Happy Mother's Day
So Tom tries to make me breakfast in bed every Mother's Day, and this Mother's Day was no exception. Except this Mother's Day Savannah happened to be sleeping in bed with me when he brought my tray in. After I "oooed and ahhhed" for a few seconds she started to climb off the bed and go to the kitchen. That's when I asked her if she wanted to have breakfast in bed with me. I'll never forget the expression on her face. I think we'll make it a tradition from now on. Mother and Daughter's day breakfast. The next best thing to sharing my breakfast with Savannah was receiving the COMFIEST pair of pajamas I have ever worn (shown in the pics above). They are so heavenly that I put them on as soon as we got home from church only to change into regular clothes a few hours later when we visited Grandma Sandy, only to put them back on again as soon as we got home and wear them every night since. LOVE those jammies!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of the women in my life.
Jacob turned 2!!!
Jacob Scott Thackeray turned 2 on April 3rd. We had a Yo Gabba Gabba themed party and he was pretty happy to be celebrating his big day! He loves to be right in the middle of the action and is our little charmer.
So I've had these pictures in my possession for over a month now. I've blogged about Spring, and flowers, and conversations with Savannah and Benjamin, and Tooth Fairies, all the while subconsciously avoiding writing a blog post about his special day. I guess in posting these pictures on the blog it just makes it more real that my baby is growing up. Why do they have to do that anyway?
Here is my list about Jacob:
*Jacob has great hair. No really, he does. It's thick and lustrous, and has great body. He had the least amount of hair of any of my children when he was born, but look at him now!
*Jacob LOVES to be kissed and nuzzled. And give kisses. And he really likes to snuggle with Tom on the couch.
*Jacob LOVES music and loves to sing! Like, he'll actually sing with me when I sing to him instead of telling me to stop. It's pretty incredible and I love it.
*Jacob also loves to dance. Even before he was walking he would do this scooting thing on his bottom whenever music came on.
*Jacob has very short little legs. Probably one of my favorite things about him. But boy, can he move!!!
*Jacob doesn't handle change very well. He loves his routine.
*Jacob is still a screamer. I've began doing time outs and counting to 3 to give him fair warning when the screaming has begun. It works some of the time.
*Jacob LOVES the trampoline. He would spend hours bouncing from his feet to his bottom and back if we let him.
*Jacob does GREAT in the nursery and the nursery leaders LOVE him. I would even venture to say that he is their favorite.
*Jacob is finally starting to wear shoes without screaming and taking them off immediately. He'll even ask to put them on. It helps that he has older siblings that set an example.
*Jacob LOVES to color. That's what he asks to do in sacrament meeting (when he isn't screaming).
*Jacob melts my heart and reaches the very depths of my soul with his sweet spirit and smile, and makes me so, so, grateful that we took the risk to have him in our family. We love you Jacob Boy!!!
it's conversations like this...
Benjamin: "Mom, why don't we have any more babies?"
Me: "Well, remember that it's just too dangerous for Mommy to have any more babies? (I have to remind Savannah and Benjamin about this a lot) Remember when you were born that Mommy almost died and you were born without a heartbeat and you needed help to start breathing again?"
Benjamin: "Ya, and I had to be in the hostable (hospital)."
Me: "Yes."
Benjamin: "It's not too dangerous for Holly to have more babies?"
Me: "No."
Benjamin: "Well I really like babies become they make our families bigger. Knox's mom has had lots of babies and they have a really big family. I like big families."
It's conversations like this that make my heart hurt. Even though I am feeling better every day with having three children, how do I help my children to be okay with it? Because I honestly feel like I am letting them down. And it makes me sad.

The Tooth Fairy and The Toenail Fairy
Savannah will be 7 at the end of this month and until a month and a half ago had not lost a single tooth! It's been a long time coming. Friends, cousins, and classmates have all lost several teeth by now so Savannah was sooo excited to join in toothless grin club. But... before the long awaited visit from the Tooth Fairy, Savannah got a visit from the Toenail Fairy. What? You have never heard of the Toenail Fairy? Well that's because the Toenail Fairy does not visit children as frequently as the Tooth Fairy. In fact, this is probably the only recorded visit from the Toenail Fairy in the entire history of the world.
You see, a few months ago Savannah had a very heavy door close on her big toe while she was going to ballet. And then that big toenail started to change colors until it completely turned black. Savannah was really worried about losing her toenail. She worried what it would look like, if it would hurt, and she kept that toenail hanging there as long as she possibly could. Until one day, that big toenail finally fell off. So, in order to comfort her I explained that sometimes when little boys and girls lose their toenails that a Toenail Fairy comes to visit just like the Tooth Fairy. And so the Toenail Fairy was born. Strange, but it helped get her through the very difficult loss of a beloved toenail. ;)
Since these pictures were taken Savannah has lost her other bottom tooth!

He said, She said
Here we go...another edition of He said, She said. I've collected a few good quotes and I thought it was time to make a post of them.
The first one involves Benjamin. As we were laying in bed the Saturday night before Easter and discussing the real reason we celebrate the holiday, Benjamin chimed in,
"Easter isn't just about the candy. It's about baskets too, right?"
Yes Benjamin, and some other very important things that I hope we were able to impress on your little mind.
Savannah, oh Savannah. She's really becoming her own person these days. I blame it on the 1st grade. Well, the sassy part at least. The rest of her wonderfulness is purely her. While eating chicken nuggets at McDonalds, which has become a rare occurrence these days, Savannah very enthusiastically exclaimed,
"Man, I forgot how awesome these things are!" I guess, to an almost seven year old they would be.
Some other fascinations Savannah has had lately have to do with the creation of the world, the first people to live on the earth, who Heavenly Father's Father is, how Jesus lived before us, died, and now lives again in Heaven(which she also wants to know the location of), among other things. These are conversations we have frequently, and I do my best to appease her. What fascinates me the most is that the questions she has are some of the very same questions that I had as a child. I don't know if all children are deep thinkers or if we are just blessed with deep thinking genes. Either way, it's rather interesting to have these discussions. Back to my original point. As you are aware, we have a slight obsession in this household with the show Yo Gabba Gabba. One of the characters on this show is a tall, thin, black man named DJ Lance Rock who wears a bright orange spandex suit and a fluffy orange hat. He lives in the "sky" above Yo Gabba Gabba land and is frequently "beamed down" to their planet to experience a little bit of Yo Gabba Gabba life. Well, one night as Savannah and I were snuggling and talking, she says,
"Mom, I think Jesus is kinda like DJ Lance Rock in the sky. He is always watching over us."
I think I laughed for about 3 minutes straight thinking about this comparison, but after much thought I realized that she had made a pretty good comparison that made complete sense to her. And yet, it still makes me giggle every time I think about it.
And finally, last night (while we were snuggling again - I'm beginning to see a pattern here) I was browsing the internet on my tablet, and the Google home page came up. Immediately Savannah said,
"Google. What's that all about?" I dunno Savannah. What's it all about?
Love my kids.
