Ethan's Bath

Ethan is generally a very, VERY easy child. There are just a few situations in which he is not....and bath time is one of them. This is soo funny to me because he has always LOVED the water. He was my only baby that never cried during his bath. He has always loved getting his hair washed and not minded water on his face but somewhere along the line he decided he needed to protest something in life (it was too easy on me otherwise, I guess) and he picked bath time. So I will have both the little girls all excited and ready for the tub and I will have to chase down this boy and force him into the tub. Sometimes he will try and stand up for the whole thing, but other times he realizes if he just sits down and plays he has still voiced his opinion in the beginning and it is now OK to enjoy his bath. On this particular night Emily was giving the kids a bath (bless her) and Ethan was being fairly stubborn so she convinced him to sit down by telling him she’d give him “cool” hair! He won’t take “cool” hair from me, I guess it’s because I am his mom and therefor not cool but he LOVES getting cool hair from Emily!! Any way, when he came downstairs he was so excited that he needed a picture to remember this cool hair by :)

Blowing Bubbles

It was a beautiful spring morning and I could think of nothing better to do than to finally get out the bubble wands the kids had gotten for Valentine’s day. They had asked so many time to use them but it really has been too cold to go out for any length of time and enjoy ourselves, so we’ve just been waiting, and waiting for a nice day. I know we had a ton of other “more important” things to get done, but once we got outside and were having such a fun time I could make us go get anything else done...I just had to stay and enjoy this day and this moment a little while longer. Kids grow up way too quickly. I mean, really, the twins are already 4 and a half--when did that happen? I think we forget to let our kids be kids, we expect them to act “grown up” or “responsible”. I think the most wonderful days I have had as a mother are the days when I am expecting nothing out of my children...and then they are free to teach me about what is truly important because I am not so distracted by all the grown up things in the world. I see the beauty and miracle and wonder of the world around me. I am able to love it and appreciate it as a child does. These moments for me are so beautiful and spiritual, just like the simple moments when you are holding a newborn and there is nothing else in the world but you and that child that was so recently with our Father in Heaven. I love the simplicity of life. These things are what make me truly happy, they fill me with JOY :) It is my goal to learn from my children a little more often. To see things from their point of view. And to let them be kids a little more often.

So, so, So Bad!!!

I cannot believe it's March 11th and I haven't even blogged Christmas morning yet. Maybe that can be my excuse for still having my Christmas background up, right?....man, morning sickness stinks. That's why I have been avoiding my blog, not just because I feel sick but because I don't feel creative and I am afraid all I would end up doing is complain about being sick all the time. I am hoping that by the end of this month I might just start feeling better, not holding my breath, but I feel optimistic :) I did just get a new computer (MacBook) so that when Jason and the kids are home they can't kick me off all the computers because they have things they actually "have" to do. I like my computer. I am still getting to know how everything works and I have been having fun playing the last few weeks. But right now my favorite thing is the kids don't know how to use it at all so they can't kick me off even if they try ;) I am having a problem though because I can't quite figure out how to upload pictures to blogger....I am going to fiddle with it some more, if any of you who have Macs have tips please share with me. I may end up switching to a Mac blog if that'll make my life easier. Either way I should really change my background sometime soon :)

One Last Snow Day

We were able to squeeze in one last snow this year before spring decided to come. The most amazing part of this day, to me at least, was not the snow but the fact that school was not cancelled because of it. Now, I admit it was a very small amount of snow but I have seen school cancelled the night before a snowfall that never came. The big kids were sad, of course, but I knew if I made the twins go to school they would never forgive me. Mostly because by noon it was going to be in the 40s and so at 1:00 when they came home ALL the snow would have been GONE!! So for the first time ever I let them (just the twins, not the big kids) skip and I decided to get nothing at all done so my kiddos could have fun. They sure did love it!!
