Tonight I Made Dinner

Tonight I made dinner. Mimi bought me a cook book called "Fun Food" by Williams-Sonoma. The other night I made macaroni and cheese and tonight I made Asian Chicken Soup. Nancy helped me a little bit.

Here are the ingredients:

4 cups of chicken broth
2 cups of water
2 boneless halves of chicken breast
2 carrots
2 cloves of garlic
1 rib of celery
3 tsp of dried thyme
1.5 cups of angel hair pasta (instead of short egg noodles)
2 generous slices of ginger
3 tbsp of soy sauce

First I put the chicken broth and water in a sauce pan. I put it over medium heat. Once it started boiling, I used tongs to add the chicken pieces to the sauce pan. I turned the heat to low so that the liquids simmered.

After ten minutes, I checked that the chicken was done and I set it aside to cool. Next, I peeled and diced the carrots. I don't really like celery so I broke it into three big chunks and mixed it with the carrots and set it all aside.

Then I sliced and crushed the garlic. (Here's a TIP: Crush the clove with the flat side of the knife!) I cut the cloves into about 5 slices each and added them to the carrots and celery.

Next, I put the carrots, celery, garlic, and thyme into the sauce pan. I stirred them with a wooden spoon. I turned the heat back to medium and let these vegetables simmer for about 10 minutes until they were soft.

I tasted the broth to make sure I liked how it tasted. I wanted to see how it was before the soy sauce went in.

Once the chicken was cool, I shredded it into small strips. I added the shredded chicken into the simmering soup along with the noodles and soy sauce. I took out the celery sticks and Nancy added them to her bowl. I was supposed to take out the ginger slices, but missed one and it ended up in Dad's soup!

Everyone liked it (even Logan, the picky eater!).

If you make this recipe, you can take some fresh basil and cut it into small pieces for a garnish. My basil was fresh out of Nancy's garden!

My Trip To Fenway

From my recent trip to Boston:
today after i got up, we went to a small restaurant for breakfast. the waitress was a tad pushy but all in all it went fine. i got french toast with bacon and home fries. After that we got back to the house that we are staying at, we got changed into warm clothes. then we walked down to the train station. i watched half of a psych and we got of of the train and walked down to the subway. after about five stops we got off and walked to the Museum of science. we went to see a omnitheater production called amazing places. it included madagascar, the amazon river and other fascinating places. after we went through most of the exibits, we left and back to the subway we went. after a lot of stops, we made it to yawkey way. i bought a hoodieish t shirt.that says redsox on the sleeve and has a small B on the left upper hand corner. then we found our seats and went to the top of the green monster took some pictures and got food. hot dog 5 bucks. small soda 4 dollars. cotton candy $6.00. A combo of the three: 5 dollars! when we sat we saw a twins player signing auto graphs. I was finally talked into getting a book signed when mom and chris told me that he could be a hall of famer. So i got in line. After JOE NATHAN signed the book we walked back to our seats. at 7:00 an announcement came on that we would "wait out the weather" after and hour they finally decided that it would postponed to tomorrow at 12:35.so we then left and we would have had to wait 2 hours for the next train out of boston but chris' friends(the ones who house that we are staying at) picked us up. traffic was bad but at 9:13 we got back. well, im gonna head off to bed so untill tomorrow, BYE!

Braces!

Ow! I got braces today. They haven't even been tightened yet and they hurt. It all started at 9:30 this morning. I got picked up by Nancy and we to the orthodontist. While I glared and locked myself in the bathroom, they somehow managed to get me in the seat. My mother showed up and stayed, too.

What they do is they glue the brackets on first. It tastes horrible! Then, after a while, they put the wire in. It took about 2 hours but only seemed like an hour and a half.

After it was over, Nan drove me home. I was happily welcomed to video games with Dad and a root beer float.

That's all for now...I'll keep you updated. Thanks for all the great texts and well wishes today! I love you all!

NATHANIEL!

While at Ben & Jerry's on Church Street, I met my first famous person. Nathaniel Marshall was on American Idol this season! While not my favorite, it was still cool to meet him. He was nice and patient even though mom had trouble with the camera phone.

Look! See! He had a spoon!
