Recent Happenings

These posts slipped through so here they are a little tardy.

On our actual anniversary Aaron surprised us all by announcing, "I don't want to work all day. Meet me at noon and let's go to the aquarium!" We were excited. Porter had a great time! He was signing fish constantly while trying to say the word as well.

No flash so not great photos.

A few days later we were with my family at the Demolition Derby. It wasn't as exciting as last year. Porter was interested but not as into it as last year. It was the first fireworks show Porter didn't start crying in and Priya loved watching the show.

Aaron Remember When...

We Tied The Knot

7 years ago!

I remember trying to decide if I would say yes if you asked me to marry you. I dug out a list of the MUST HAVE qualities I had written one night when I was 17. (who knew I'd be using it so soon!) You had them all, but I was still scared then I went to the general relief society meeting that night and President Hinckley said this:

"Aim high, but do not aim so high that you totally miss the target. What really matters is that he will love you, that he will respect you, that he will honor you, that he will be absolutely true to you, that he will give you the freedom of expression and let you fly in the development of your own talents. He is not going to be perfect, but if he is kind and thoughtful, if he knows how to work and earn a living, if he is honest and full of faith, the chances are you will not go wrong, that you will be immensely happy."

As I listened I was terrified, but I knew my answer would be YES. The prophet's promise has never let me down because you are all of those things, you do all that he said was required of a man to make a wife IMMENSELY HAPPY. And I am.

I am so grateful for you, happy to be your wife and excited about eternity. ~Love Megs

I know it's late but we never celebrate on Aug. 3rd so it seemed appropriate since we're off to celebrate in the morning. Lets go make some more memories.

My Priya Lynn

To My Little Miss Bright Eyes {Everyone comments on how your brother stole the girly lashes, but I just have you say... Yours aren't too shabby darling!}
  • Sweet heart, you've been rolling for a month now, and your Mommy has failed to document it. It took a few days before we actually witnessed your triumph, but the evidence was pretty clear whenever we'd put you down you'd end up on your tummy.
  • We suspect you can roll from you tummy to back also because Monday I put you on the floor next to me while I bathed your brother and you moved 3 feet. Perhaps you're just a good wiggler.
{From these pictures it's pretty obvious which blanket is your favorite and you always have it touching your face.}
  • We moved you into your own room. It broke my heart. You see I keep having this thought that you'll be my last baby (not our plan, but I do feel this way often). So this step that moved you from infant to baby was hard for me. It wasn't for you. You love your room and sleep tremendously well in there.
  • You don't laugh much. You smile ALL day long but we've only heard small chuckles at random moments. The first time I heard you laugh I was feeding you in the Escort at North Beach on Bear Lake. You had just fallen asleep and you laughed. I can't wait to discover your sense of humor, because I think it's going to be unique and fun! That and maybe I can get you to laugh more often.
{I couldn't pick between them}
  • You go from content to starving in a flash and you kind of over react about it. Well not kinda' you're way dramatic about it. :) You'll be a fun teenager. You'll be a beautiful teenager, you're so gorgeous!
  • Like I mentioned you're a good sleeper and I get lonely for you when you sleep so much. I'm not used to my babies sleeping long periods. Porter already sleeps like an adult so I'm used to having him around. It just feels like you should be with us, but I let you sleep... most the time. ;)
  • I think we're through the colic for the most part. You still give us a run for our money some nights, but the majority of the time you're happy these days.
  • You and your brother ADORE each other. When your eyes meet you both grin from ear to ear and enter your own little P&P exclusive bubble. He's still rough with you but very rarely does he hurt you out of jealousy these days. Usually he scares you when he comes rushing over concerned you're crying, when he tries to show you his toys, or gets a little too enthusiastic telling you his stories. Just remember Porter loves you very, very much even if he annoys you a little.
  • Daddy and I call you, "Beautiful" (Mommy), "Little Miss" (Daddy), "sister", "little one", "number 2", "that one" (Porter is "This one").
  • You sleep on your tummy and love it.
  • You're starting to bear weight in your legs and think you're pretty cool when you do it.
  • You take your binkie well, but prefer your fist. You don't suck your thumb it's your whole fist as much of it as you can stuff in your mouth.
  • You're in the 75th percentile with the exception of your head which is in the 95% so you don't really enjoy tummy time anymore because it's such hard work. You are starting to hold your head high on your tummy though. You're passive when it comes to the bumbo, you don't love it, nor do you hate it.
  • I love to sneak you into bed with me the last hour before I get up. I lay your head in the crook of my arm & shoulder, pull my knees up to your feet, wrap my arms around you and hold you close. You wont be this little forever and I'm going to enjoy all the cuddles I can get away with. You Dad was doing this one night and I told him you were, "A little piece of wonderful you can wrap your arms around" it's true.
{I took these before I texted your Dad to request a "Priya Removal" that's what we call it because neither of us can bare to separate ourselves from you. So we have to ask for help or nothing would ever get done, not that much does get done but your brother would run wild.}
{side note: you totally have red hair! Maybe not as dark as mine but it's red and they doubted my judgment.}
  • You're starting to learn your name. Right now you respond when you hear me say your name and you're just starting to respond when other's say it as well.
  • I'm your favorite :) I like this.
  • Uncle Micah feed you your first bottle while Mommy went to Harry Potter and you've been such a good girl about taking the bottle... thank you. I enjoy getting out for more than 2.5 hours at a time, but only occasionally.
  • You like fireworks. I've never seen you so interested in something as you were the fireworks display this weekend.
  • You kind of growl when you want to talk and it keeps us laughing. We enjoy it.
Last and most important for you to know: You Are LOVED!
You've brought a whole new level of happiness to this family and we're so glad you picked us. You've charmed your way into our hearts and we're never letting you out! It's an honor to be your Mother!

Love You Always and Forever,
Mommy

Stress & Worry List

  • I have a fear of spending money lately. I have visions of how I'd like to spend it, but always decided against it and keep it safe in savings. But there's some spending in our future and I'm scared.
  • Betsy (my 1999 ford escort) died today on Aaron's way home from work... Betsy is an amazing car, we're just to a point where it maybe time to think about not repairing the car with 189,000 miles on her and get a new one. SCARED!!! Pull through for less than $500 Betsy... I love you.
  • Public vs. Private in our current economic state. I'm afraid that if I send Porter to public school for kinder he'll end up in an isolated special ed classroom. So I emailed several private schools today just so we can explore our options. The tuition would be a sacrifice for this family, but a sacrifice worth making if we feel right about it.
  • The return on some undiagnosed health problems in my life.
  • Therapy... I read all these things that make me feel like my child HAS to have this therapy or he'll never speak clearly, or this, or this. This leads to mommy pressure and guilt.
  • Porter's eye has started turning with his glasses on. I don't know what this means, expect for sure new lenses. I'm hoping his vision has improved instead of worsened.
  • The neighbors seeing me in my pajamas and messy hair at 6:30 p.m.
There maybe I can let it all go now and trust God with it. Happy as can be, these have just been nagging at me.

I'm hopeful that updates on the kids will get posted tonight, much more fun to read. :)
