The Gapinski's

First a confession, I had to steal this picture...thanks Tim and Megan. (I almost cried when Aaron said we forgot the camera.)
Tyler and Rachael
were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on July 25th. The whole family has been looking forward to this day for a long time. I remember the night we went home and Aaron said to me, "Oh yeah, Rachael's got a new boy friend. He'll be here tonight." Instantly we both thought let's see if he's good enough for her . We met Tyler and quickly realized what a good match he was for our little sister. Spending time with them and watching them together has been so much fun. They're a wonderful couple and now a great Husband & Wife team. I'm sorry for the cheesiness of this but, it was a day that touched my heart and I'll remember how I felt during their marriage for a long time. The Gelter family has been very blessed in that we've all found spouses that make us truely happy!

Birthday Surprises

Meghann decided to surprise me this year for my birthday. She thought it was a really good idea for the last couple of weeks until the last couple of days started getting to her. She kept bugging me to let her tell me what we were going to do, but I had a lot of fun telling her I wanted to be surprised. She finally told me yesterday afternoon and was relieved to finally have it off her chest! Anyways, she took me to Rodizio Grill at Trolley Square (yummy!), followed by a Real Salt Lake game. It was so fun! RSL ended up losing the game, but luckily it was against the best club team from Costa Rica and didn't count against them in MLS rankings. To make the night complete, they did a fireworks show for Pioneer Day. It was a great evening, thanks Meg!

Happy Birthday-- Tomorrow

Aaron is turning 26 tomorrow. We're celebrating today because tomorrow Rachael's wedding festivities begin and we don't want to distract from her special day! I love you Aaron! I think it's so funny that you now say you're almost 30...you're not! Besides 30 will be wonderful, we have so much to look forward to in the upcome years! I hope this makes you smile!

I Must Be Crazy

I just sent my resume to Tooele County School District, I've always wanted to teach for them. I talked with HR today and they said to expect calls first thing in the morning to talk with me. We'll see...

Because He's That Cute

Things We love about our little puppy!
  • He cheers us up even when we're not sad.
  • He's fun to play with.
  • We like that he knows us by Mom and Dad.
  • When he naps during the day he has to be touching Meg to fall asleep.
  • His ears are officially up and big! He's going through the Westie awkward phase and we still think he's adorable.
  • He likes to sing along with Meg in the shower. So, beautiful! Wonder what that means about my singing?
  • He can always make us smile. Even when he's being bad. He just looks at you like, "What?!"
He is fasinated with the mirror and is constantly trying to play with his reflection.

To Be Noted

For some weird reason I can't sleep despite how tired I am. Thoughts keep filling up my mind and the brain wont turn off. One thing that crossed my mind during my lack of slumber was that I didn't mention in my last post the wonderful blessings that came out of last years hardship. I taught some of the most brilliant, interesting, and wonderful children you'll ever meet. It would have been a tragedy if I had never meet them. I love them very much! Also, I made some good friends in carpool and my grade level team. They were there for me and supporting me each day. They got me through the bad days. I would be ungrateful if I didn't mention how good they were too me.

Call Me Jaded

The other day I met someone going into social work. I started thinking about how this career was what I thought I wanted to do during high school. I loved helping people and making a difference. Then after some bad experiences where people I loved and wanted to help manipulated me, used me, and eventually hurt me deeply, I realized I get too involved and would give up to much of myself if I went into social work. So, instead I chose teaching. All through college I loved every minute of teaching and adored most of my students. I had some of the most joyful days of my life during student teaching. I knew that I was a good teacher and that my students were growing and learning. I had really never been happier. I took my first job with lots of optimism that it would be difficult but wonderful. I really believed that I would be happy.

Now I find myself jaded and unwilling to seek out another teaching position because I was so unhappy last year. There were so many things that were stacked against me last year that it's no wonder it wasn't a great experience, but you always hope you're strong enough to overcome. The demands of the classroom were large enough, but I was also scared of a situation in my classroom (that I couldn't change). Looking back now I realize just how much that fear made me shut down! I didn't want to go to work, I hated it! I slowly stopped interacting with the staff, I tried to cut myself off from other teachers. I'd watch them and see them enjoying each day and wonder what was wrong with me. I still wanted to do a good job for my students but the focus shifted from work to family and the future. Now I understand that I was looking forward to the future so much because I knew I was going to be able to get out of my unhappy environment. I want to teach again, I want to find a place where I can teach and truly be happy like I was during student teaching. Right now, however, I'm more concerned with keeping myself healthy and happy so we can start a family. I really could teach one more year before we could start a family, but in my head I think, "Why risk it?" It would be good for me to have a good experience before dropping out of the game for a family, but I'm too worried. I know the right district and classroom is out there for me. I'm just JADED and unwilling to risk it. I'm scared of this because I know that not making risks in life leads to regret. Oh bother!

Mixing It Up

Every one has these adorable blog backgrounds. I got to thinking maybe I should try that. So, I went and found one I liked and I'm just trying it out to see if I like it or not. Aaron hasn't seen it yet, I think it might be a little to cute for him.

His Name is Sydney

We got our puppy a little sooner than we had planned, but he's here and he's wonderful! He got his name from Aaron's favorite novel, which I'm currently reading, A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. I was reading it the other day and came to a part where Sydney Carton was being incredible. So, I suggested the name to Aaron and now our puppy is a famous literary character. Nerdy? Yes. He's only 6 weeks old so he's still just a baby. He's a West Highland Terrier and he's very smart...in our opinion. You'll just have to meet him he's very lovable. He's actually a very big answer to our prayers and we're already very attached to this little one.

This is a picture of me trying to decide which puppy I want. Can you tell Sydney actually picked me before I picked him? Then this is Aaron with Sydney after and early morning potty break.
These are Sydney's favorite sleeping positions. In his kennel or on his back with his feet in the air. Isn't he just adorable?!

Smiles for the camera! His ears are the greatest to me, one up, one down.

The rest of these are Sydney being the little hyper puppy that come out after each nap. He's a lot of fun! He loves to chew because his teeth are coming in. He especially loves fingers and toes. Ouch!

Poor Baylee she reminded Sydney of his rope toy.

p.s. Aaron picked the pictures, Meghann wrote the post.

Remodeling Efforts

This is how we are spending our time these days. The actual painting should happen soon!

Cruise In

These are just for fun. We had a very relaxing 4th of July weekend. Although, I was a little disappointed because we didn't get to see a big fireworks display and we never heard the National Anthem. The cars, company, and music was good through. You can't ask for more than that.

Reality Bites

  1. Went to the Doctor and found out I have strep really badly because it went untreated for half a month. No wonder it hurt so much!
  2. We got back to our house to find a huge stack of Bills. :(
  3. Aaron had to sit in a chair all day at work.
  4. Our house still needs work. But, we're excited about that and have made a two week goal for painting. 2 maybe 3 more hours of masking and we'll be ready to paint!
  5. We don't get to see each other 24/7 anymore.
Alright, we know we're spoiled and no you don't need to feel sorry for us. You can actually curse us if you like for pouting, but it's been an adjustment. We get to go to The Cache Valley Cruise In and STYX concert today so we'll be drooling over beautiful muscle cars and hoping to win the give away. Happy 4th of July!
