Full Meridian
I have touched the highest point of all my greatness; And from that full meridian of my glory I haste now to my setting: I shall fall Like a bright exhalation in the evening, And no man see me more. William Shakespeare King Henry VIII. Act iii. Sc. 2.

Don't text while driving
One of my college classmates died in a car accident nearly a week ago. The person driving the car that hit her was texting while driving. My friend's needless death is a tragedy, and similar deaths can be prevented.

Rest in Peace, Leigh Anne

I just learned that one of my college classmates, Leigh Anne Ward, died in a car accident.
I'll always remember Leigh Anne for many reasons, including her love of three things in particular:
- Converse College
- Vivien Leigh in Gone With the Wind
- Her family

Thunderstorm
This morning's thunderstorm knocked the electricity out of work. I waited with some co-workers for an hour before we got word to go home. Yeah, not getting paid for a day sucks. But I won't lie; a day at home rocks.

Hosiery
I can't remember the last time I wore stockings. Wait, a minute. Yes, I can. February. My toe punched through the reinforced toe panel.
Where do I find high end hosiery to fit a tall gal who likes to eat? Or, more aptly, a tall gal who doesn't like to exercise. More specifically, hosiery that doesn't come in a plastic egg.

Two weeks ago
Two weeks ago, Mom and I were at David's Bridal, and Shanita was squeezing me into a dress five sizes too small. Beads were flying. Internal organs were bruising. Let's just say that this episode might qualify as my latest I'd Rather Not. (Previous I'd Rather Not = reading The Canterbury Tales in Middle English)
Thankfully, very thankfully, we found a dress in my size. Then we celebrated by eating at the nearest restaurant: Popeye's.
Dress photos available upon request. I'm not posting them because the groom reads this blog. At least I think he does.

Buddy System
I need a new work buddy. My previous one disappeared. What's this about? Most people have annoying co-workers they prefer to avoid. Well, I tend to seek out a buddy. A friendly comrade to help the day pass along more quickly and happily.
I need a work buddy. I've been working solo for two and a half weeks. I feel isolated and a little bit lonely. The work day seems to last forever, and I'm tired and cranky after work from spending too much time by myself. The motivational posters are less motivating, and lunch hour spans into boredom.
Sporadic internet availability prevents the obvious work buddy choice. Maybe I need one of those My Buddy dolls? I'm joking. Don't buy me one.

Mothers make everything seem better
Mom visited for a little over a week. It's odd to have an empty room across the hallway. For a week we left our doors open and talked across the hallway. I brought Mom coffee every morning, even the days I had to work. She'd tell me goodnight, then she'd work on her shutterfly pictures or read her novel.
A week ago I dropped Mom at the airport after a wonderful visit. Maybe the absolute best visit we've ever had. Very sad to say goodbye, but I'll see her soon. Mom, I love you!

I'd Rather Not: Clothes Shopping
Over the years, an expanding waistline has deterred my desire to shop. Yet I want to look stylish on the honeymoon, with clothes that actually fit me. Here are some dress contenders. I welcome feedback on each dress.

Also, green coat?

Guess who is already thinking about Christmas? My sister. And I thought she liked Halloween more than Christmas.

Cats in stores: Monastery kittens

How can you resist such a sweet, furry face?
Last weekend we took Mom to the gift shop at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA. She enjoys their honey. I enjoy their cats. The gift shop always has cats on the porch, and this time they had kittens.
This fella was my favorite. He put himself in a shopping cart, so I would take him home. Of course Figaro would not approve, so someone else will adopt cute little grey kitten.

Moooooving
Yesterday marked moving day for the first large load of my belongings. We're trying to make this process the least painful as possible, considering that moving is always painful. Steady carloads weekend by weekend. This process reminds me that of all the times I've moved (Tennessee Ave. -> West Glebe Rd. -> Preston Rd. -> Varnum St.), I've never rented a truck. I'm not saying that was the best idea, especially for the last move. A person accumulates much stuff over eight years at the same residence, and the last move was particularly painstaking and emotional. God bless Nikki and Hadley for their help! They've saved my sanity many times.
So this should be my last move EVER. I'd knock on wood, but I pretty much sold all my furniture.

Found the Dress

Last Wednesday, Mom and I spent the morning with Shanita of David's Bridal. After a few unsuccessful dresses, we finally found the dress that connected with me. Yes, this was after squeezing me into a dress several times too small.
I wish I could show the final dress on this blog, but the future spouse might be reading this.
Mom and I celebrated the purchase by having lunch at Popeye's before going to the movies to see the Sorcerer's Apprentice then making a stop at Red Velvet Cupcakery. Yum!
Mom, thank you for the dress, your help, and a wonderful day! I love you.

Missy Misses her Mommy
After a delightful week of Mom's visit, I took her to the airport tonight. I wanted her to stay, so dropping her off was very sad. She helped me find and fund my wedding dress and veil. We had great weekend adventures, and she got to visit my church. I already want her to return. I miss my Mommy!
