DI Regional Tournament

Ah, DI. This is Audrey's fourth year competing in the DI competition. This year, her team consists of only four kids, and their presentation is awesome! They chose the Scientific Challenge and had to come up with a creative piece of "Extreme Gear" that would help a person survive in an Extreme Environment. The setting they chose is the Mutnovsky Volcanic Ice Caves in Russia.

Rehearsals. They did this A LOT.

The day of the competition, getting dressed in the hallways.

Prepping to present.

Their scientific extreme gear explanation.

Going over scores. They were high!

After the awards ceremony. The girls earned second place, which, originally, didn't qualify them to advance, but a couple of weeks later, we were informed that due to their high scores, they had been invited as a bonus team! Off to state!

My camera cut off toward the end of their presentation, but you can watch it below!

Basketball

Miles had some baseball buddies who invited him to be on their basketball team, the Bears, so he tried it out. Didn't always love it, but he stuck with it and had a fun season.

New Bike

Neal calls it my "handicapped bike." Whatever. I think it's cute. Yay for local Facebook buy/sell groups!

Talent Shows

Parker and Miles both performed in their school talent shows this month. Parker played with his band, Cold Bombers. They did a fantastic job!

Miles and Benjamin performed an awesome two-minute version of "Who's on First?" It was pretty adorable, despite their little mix-up in the middle!

Parker played bass for his friend, Bowan, who played a John Mayer song in the elementary school show. They were awesome!

Miles and I both performed in the first grade musical. He had a speaking part and I played the piano.

The same night Miles did his comedy sketch, Parker played bass for his friend, Bowan, who sang a John Mayer song. They were fabulous! Here's the video:

David came to see us.

We had so much fun with Lincoln, Mimi and David! Mimi and David were able to spend a whole week with us, and we had so much fun getting to know David better. Last time he was here, he was quite a bit younger and squishier. This time, he could teach us Korean and make us laugh. Fun times with this dude.

The first night they arrived, we went to the Great Wolf Lodge. The kids had a holiday on Monday and there were deals to be had! We went with our friends, the Rousseaus and Musgraves, as well. That place is always a fun diversion!

Just making a human bridge to get from one bed to another. Yep, this ended badly.

In the pool!

Chatty dude.

Neal had a birthday during the Parkers' visit. Mimi was so sweet to make Neal this amazing blueberry tarte for his "cake." So good!

David visited Miles at school and loved his classroom.

We had to go to Uncle Julio's (also for Neal's birthday). Tortilla faces always result.

The elementary school science fair went on during their visit, too. Miles had a project to display, so we all went to support him. First, we played on the playground.

Mimi and Lincoln went to a conference on Friday and Saturday, so we had charge of David. Maybe we enjoyed some snuggles!
