I haven't forgotten this one!

From the way I have been blogging many of you may think I have neglected my second child. He is growing so fast and it would be a sin for me not to document his everyday happenings, but I just find myself busy with so many other things that he just gets neglected somehow. I remember with Emi I would take tons of pictures of her and I guess Kenji is falling into the second child syndrome. I will try my best to do better!

Halloween 2008

This year was Emi's first time going trick-or-treating! She went with dad and some other neighborhood kids around the block. When it started raining we asked if she wanted to go home and she said she wanted to keep going! So I guess getting loads of candy is a real motivator for her these days. Many of you may recognize this costume from last year's Halloween. I say there are so many more Halloweens to come why not squeeze in an extra year out of this one.

Potty training

Well, I thought I should start Emi back on potty training after a month of having the baby. We tried bribing her with all kinds of things from candy, popsicles, princess dresses, princess shoes and so forth. Nothing really worked and I was ready to give up. Then I talked to someone who said that they potty trained their boys by giving them "potty toys" where the only time they could actually play with their toys was on the potty seat. My thought was we tried everything we could think why not give this idea a shot. We knew that she was in her princess stage so we could use princess figurines to accomplish the job. We started maybe two weeks ago and the toys are a big hit with her. For each time she goes potty on the toilet she can choose to have a princess to play with for the day. The start of last week she started with maybe one a day. Today she made it to three times and at the end of the day she actually went a fourth time so she has four all together now! I never thought I would see the day where I could get her to do it on her own, but with a little patience and a few plastic toys Emi is on her way to accomplishing an amazing feat!

(You can tell that this is a big deal for me because I don't think I have ever written this much in a blog entry before.)

Emi's art work

I got this idea from someone where instead of collecting all of their children's artwork in a box to take pictures of them with their master piece. Emi did this in her play group this morning and she is definitely proud of it!

WHY so serious?

Emi calls any kind of lipstick/lip gloss "lips" and she LOVES to play with mommy's "lips." She won't let me help her and she insists on putting it on herself, hence the joker look. We'll work on that when she is older, but for now she can humor me a bit!

Look what we have!

My cherry tomatoes finally ripened, which I think is so late in the season. Emi had a grand old time picking them. They aren't as sweet as I would like them, but maybe it's because they are the first ones to come in. Here Emi proudly displays what she gathered!

Baby pictures

I needed to get some pictures of him before he got to be too old. So here is one that I did today. I wanted to get some of him sleeping, but he was awake for the whole time so I think I will try tomorrow. Anyways, this is what Kenji looks like one week later! He is pretty much a great baby because all he does is eat, sleep and poop. The hard part is trying to take care of him at night and being too tired to keep Emi entertained in the day. She doesn't take naps during the day so it is hard for me to catch up on any sleep. Well, we will see how this week goes. Maybe Kenji will be able to sleep for longer periods of time.

Kenji Kelii Wunder

The night before the induction. Ever since we talked to Emi about having a baby brother she has started to regress back to her baby ways. For a day she insisted that she needed to drink from a bottle and it was hard to get her out of the baby carrier.

Right before they started me.

just waiting.

5 and 1/2 hours later baby kenji was born at 7lbs adn 19 1/2 inches.

Little Kenji is here!

We would like to welcome our newest addition to the family Kenji Kelii Wunder! He arrived Aug. 7, 2008 at about 2:45 pm. This time the labor and delivery went so much faster than Emi's. We started around 9:00 am and 5 hours later I pushed about three times and his head was out! If only first time pregnancies were that easy! Well, he is a delight to have at home and we are so excited to see him grow within these next few days. I will post some pictures a little bit later, but for now here are the stats.

weight: 7 lb
height: 19 1/2 inches
born: 2:32 August 7, 2008

Kelii's wasatch back relay

I was suppose to have this up like month ago, but I never got around to it. Kelii did the Wasatch back relay with a bunch of friends from the ward. We didn't get to see him to the very end of the race, but he took some pictures of what it was like throughout the event. He trained a bit for this race and it was so great to see him come through the finish line both relieved and happy. We are so proud of him for doing something like this.

This is the Place Heritage Park

My mom called me last Monday and told me that we could get in for free at the This is the Place Heritage Park. In addition to the free admission, there was free ice-cream as well! We couldn't pass that up so we headed down to Salt Lake. Emi had a lot of fun at the petting zoo, but she was more interested in the little stream that ran across the place than the sheep. One thing that she couldn't keep her eyes off was the peacock. We kept waiting for it to open up its feathers, but you know that does not happen until you look away. Anyways, the pony ride was next and I was surprised that Emi lasted the whole ride because she is usually scared to do something out of the ordinary. The free ice-cream cone topped it off since it was getting pretty hot we really enjoyed it. As you can tell Emi loved it. She ate the whole thing herself! It was a fun filled event. If you ever have the chance you should take the fam there! Lots of things to do for the kiddies and fun for adults as well.
