Family Pictures 2011

I am a little ashamed to say the last time we had family pics was when Allie was 4 months old! So I finally nailed down a time with my AMAZINGLY talented sister in law to have them done. I have never stressed so much about pictures in my life! I figured if we were going to do this for the 3rd time EVER then we were going to do it right. So I made the family promise not to get injured, bruised or dead prior to the event. ;) Anyway, I am totally pleased with how they turned out. There were also a couple horses in the field and one of them would NOT leave us alone! Everytime we tried to set up the picture there he would be, 2 feet away from us. He followed us around almost the whole time! I was suprised at how calm most of the kids were around it, though. I think that will add to the memory of the whole thing. :)

The bird that fell from the tallest branch in the tree...

Oh my gosh.... this has to be the dumbest bird EVER! So, today when I got home from taking the kids to school (8:50am) I heard this noise that sounded like someone throwing a bouncy ball at a window. Well, 10 minutes later I still hear this noise! So I look out the windows but only to find I dont' see anything. 45 minutes later, I still hear it! No kid has an attention span that long. Every 5-10 seconds, BONK! So finally at about 10:00am I really start to look around. I noticed out my bedroom window some birds below in the grass so I start thinking there is a baby bird stuck in the window well. So, I grab a broom and head down to investigate. This is what I found....

It is now 2:00pm... It is still at it! I tried opening the window so it could just come in and get what it wants and leave but he wouldn't come in. I am thinking he is probably attacking his reflection. Who knows... all I know is that he isn't really smart. He runs off any other bird that even looks like they are going to get close to him. If you listen closely on one of the videos, when he is down in the window well, you can hear him pecking at the window.

Can't they get it right?

The other day I was fixing Allies hair in the bathroom. As I am doing this, she is staring at herself in the mirror. After about 5 minutes or so, she informs me, "Look at my eyes! One is bigger than the other. See look, (as she points to her left eye) this one is bigger than the other one." Then she goes on to say, "They made them crooked." I stop to look at her and ask, "Who made them crooked?". She then replies kindof bashfully, "The angels and Jesus." :) Oh she brings a smile to my face.

Questions from Dallin while in car for 15 minutes...

1- "Mom, do you know a word that has more than 25 letters in it?" 2- "Mom, why does grandpa have so many cars?" 3- "Mom, how long are we going to live in Santaquin?" 4- "Mom, how long will a car drive on a tank of gas?" 5-8 "Mom, is that mountain a volcano? Are there volcanoes in Utah? Have volcanoes erupted in Utah? If there were an earthquake would there be a volcano in Utah?" 9- "Mom, is that a tornado?" 10- "Mom, how long can you hold your breath under water?" 11- "Mom, how old were you when you learned about multiplication?" 12- "Mom, do you like talking on the phone?" I love that kiddo...

SHAC Tri~

I finally bit the bullet and trained for a tri. I have always wanted to do one but hated (and not known how to) swimming. Swimming to me was laying out on the side of the pool while the kids played on the other side to ensure they didn't splash me. I have never enjoyed the face in the water/not able to breathe when I want thing. But my friend finally convinced me she couldn't swim either and therefore we would suck it up together so I agreed to do one. First off, let me say, she can swim much better than me so I think she was exaggerating a bit there.... I'll remember that one. ;)

Anyway, here are some pics from this past weekend... My swim pic is blurry because I was going so fast (that is a lie).
My heart is still with running but I will for sure do more tri's in the future. I finished in 1:18. There are definitely places I can improve starting with the swim. Something to work towards for next time, I guess!

Oh my little girl.....

This is my angel Allie.... for those of you who know her you really can't say anything bad about her. She is the most helpful, loving and sweet little girl. One thing we have had to work on from birth with her, though, is eating. If it isn't drowned in syrup or sugar she really doesn't want anything to do with it. We literally have bribe her with dessert after dinner to get her to eat at least some of her meal. It wasn't until 1 year ago that she quit being vegetarian. Anywho, this post starts two days ago. I made a big ol' pot of chicken noodle soup. Allie immediatly goes into defense mode and says she hates soup. Knowing the battle we are about it encounter we decide to leave the choice up to her.... Eat your dinner or go to bed. She says, "Ok." and turns around, walks into her room, shuts the door and goes to bed... it is 6:00 pm. The next morning she comes out and announces that is was the "worst night ever" because of her tummy rumbling during the night. So I figured we had it in the bag for dinner that night.

I decided to resort to bribing again and allowed her to get a treat at the gas station but was not allowed to eat it until she finished her plate of dinner. She agreed and sat down to eat her hotdogs and broccoli... both of which she said she LOVES. While she ate I went outside to help Ryan work on the car. About 10 minutes later she came out, announced she was done. I went in to check and, sure enough, she had finished her meal. So she got her treat.

Later last night, as I was putting the ranch away, I noticed it looked a little strange. As I stuck the fork in to investigate, this is what I found.................
Can you see the hotdogs? Needless to say, the treat was thrown away.

What we've been up to...

It seems with the cold weather through the winter I would have posted more regularly when infact it made me quite the blogging slacker. So, for the sake of the post being REALLY long, I will just post pics with a minimum amount of wordage. Some of the pictures will be blurry since, even though we have a new camera, I still feel as though we don't and forget it so most pictures are taken with my phone.

First thing, Christmas. We only got one picture. I know... Mother of the year award right here.
Next, Garrett's birthday. The poor kids birthday is the day after Christmas... he is still waititng for his birthday party. No one wants to send their kid to a party after the holiday season so we usually wait a couple months to let the months settle. Again, no pictures so mother of the year award... He is the big 11. I have a tween.
Next it was Allies birthday. I can't believe she is 6! We took her to Pirate Island with her cute little cousin that was born exactly a month later.
Then there was sledding at Soldier Hollow. Fun but super cold and windy. Allie was pulled down the hill a bit from the wind picking her tube up~ Vegas, Baby...... Ryan had a mustache for a whole 20 minutes. (that was the longest I could handle it) Oh yeah, he also had a birthday!
Allie lost her first tooth. Poor thing didn't even get to pull it out herself- the dentist had to do it. She was gonzo on the gas, though. Pretty entertaining.Last, SKIING! Always a good time... especially when you get to ski in short sleeves. :)Well, that is about it for now. Hopefully I will be better at posting regularly in the future.
