Today is Tu B'Shvat, the New Year of the Trees. Israeli kids are all out planting trees. The holiday is one of healing and hope for the future.I'm taking the occasion, however, to peek at how Palestinian kids are being educated.Above: On TV, from his hospital bed the dying bunny speaks his last words to Saraa his little friend (as translated by MEMRI):

"Saraa, my will is that you tell our beloved children never to forget Jerusalem, Saraa. You must pass this legacy on to our beloved children. They must never forget Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa, the prisoners, or the refugees.

"Remind them, Saraa, that we have a land to which we must return, by means of the steadfastness of the resistance and the mujahideen, by means of the steadfastness of knowledge and the fear of God. Tell them that Assud died as a hero, as a martyr. Tell them that Assud died a martyr's death, Saraa."

"We should teach our children that we have a land to which we must return: Jaffa, Acre, Haifa, and Tel Aviv. We will return to all these cities, Allah willing.

"Saraa, I implore you... I entrust you with the legacy of protecting Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the blessed land of Palestine. Listen to me, Saraa: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and the Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."

UNRWA Employees

In response to popular demand, I've used the Naive Newsman character again to further explore the fantasy world of TV News reporting of the Mideast "conflict". * * * Meanwhile, in the real world, U.S. Representative Steven R. Rothman of New Jersey has proposed Congressional legislation to "Ensure Terrorists are Not Employed by or Receive Benefits from UNRWA". The following paragraph is from the text of the proposed bill:

"UNRWA has employed staffers affiliated with terrorism, including Said Sayyam, the Hamas Minister of Interior and Civil Affairs, who was a teacher in UNRWA schools in Gaza from 1980 to 2003; Awad al-Qiq, the headmaster of an UNRWA school in the Gaza Strip who also led Islamic Jihad's engineering unit that built bombs and Qassam rockets; Nahed Rashid Ahmed Atallah, a prior senior UNRWA employee from 1990 to 1993 who was responsible for the dissemination of assistance to refugees while he was also an operative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine; and Nidal Abd al-Fattah Abdallah Nazzal, a Hamas activist employed as an ambulance driver by UNRWA, who confessed in 2002 to transporting weapons and explosives to terrorists in an UNRWA ambulance;" -more

No Brainer

Condi wants to know why "donor pledges" to the increasingly out of control and dangerous Palestinian entity are not being fulfilled?

According to Reuters:

LONDON, May 2 (Reuters) - "Donor nations meet on Friday to discuss aid to the Palestinian Authority among recriminations that some have been slow to provide promised money and doubts about a U.S.-backed Middle East peace effort.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to press Arab nations to make good on their pledges of aid, arguing that it is vital to support Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as he seeks to negotiate peace with Israel." -more

The Iranian-backed Palestinians are a clear threat to peace and to the countries of the region. Everyone in the area knows it but won't say it. Will Condi be successful in getting "donor countries" (including Arab states) to fund the monster that seeks to destroy them?

Hamas Plays Victim for the Media (1993)

Today's Golden Oldie Dry Bones cartoon is from fifteen years ago. It was published on February 12, 1993. An unshaven Mr. Shuldig is planning to go to a Purim party as a Hamas "activist" posing as a victim for the media.

The Palestinian terrorists have terrorized and bullied their own people, persecuted the local Christians, and waged a merciless war to destroy the Jews and the Jewish State. And STILL the media reports on their "victimization" and their "suffering".

Newsphoto of Hamas legislators in Gaza City "forced" to use candles because of the "lack of electricity". The meeting was held in the middle of the day, so they had to close the curtains to prevent the sunlight from streaming in through the windows and ruining the effect. So why is the media STILL being taken in by the "poor Palestinian victims" story?

Pallywood

Do the Palestinians fabricate photographs and news footage? You bet they do! It's part of their propaganda war against us. Look at this photograph of the frightened Palestinian boy that has become an icon for the anti-Israel movement. Could this news footage image of 12 year-old Mohammed Al Durah and his dad(reproduced everywhere) be a Pallywood fake? I don't know. Second Draft presents the evidence and examines the possibilities.

For me, a more important question is "Will the Al Durah image continue to be used for decades as proof of an Israeli atrocity?" And the answer to that is a firm YES! How do I know?.

Consider the following news magazine photographic "spread" from 1937... the dramatic photo covers a page and a half. The image is of a bombed-out train station in Nanking, China. On the tracks is a crying Chinese baby, left there to die by the Japanese invaders.

The following photo shows how the baby was set, as a prop, to be used in the heart-rending anti-Japanese propaganda piece. The photograph was a fake.

We now cut to sixty years later.
