Now when I think pet, I am assuming he wants a cat or a dog. I know that he loves our neighbor's dog, so I feel fairly confident that is what he is thinking. WRONG. . . My son is also obsessed with snakes. So he has now told anyone who will listen that when he turns 10 he is getting a nice Milk Snake. He then proceeds to tell them what milk snakes eat (MICE) and how excited he is to get one. Well, the good news is that maybe he will change his mind by the time he turns 10. The bad news is, if he doesn't I may have to consider purchasing the house next door. I HATE SNAKES!!!! Just looking at the milk snake in the store and picturing me having to feed it cute innocent mice kills me. AHHHHHHHHHH. So why do people have pets? I may need a few reminders.

Pets
So, I made the mistake of telling my 4 year old son that when he turns 10 he could get a pet. I set the ten year old age requirement because #1 I am hoping by then he might help with the pet. (Wishful thinking I'm sure you are saying) and #2 Hopefully by the time Jake's ten, dad will have a real job and we can afford a cool pet.

Dancing at the Civic Center
Last Friday my girls had their first dance performances of the year. My jazz class and the studio's company students put on a show in the morning at the Arts Academy and then later that night at the Civic Center. It was a lot of fun. The event at the Civic Center was part of a Karate Expo with Taylor Lautner (I think that's how you spell it) AKA: Shark Boy or Boyfriend on Cheaper by the Dozen 2. The girls were so funny to watch. The older girls from the studio couldn't stop staring and the younger ones just wanted autographs. It was cute to watch. My girls managed to get their picture taken with him so they were happy. If I can ever get the picture function on this site to work I will download some pictures. Anyhow, that's what we've been doing. I think I am done with extra rehearsals for awhile. Hope you are all having a great week.

Spiderman, Cosmic Bowling, and Gifts for ME!!

Sorry this post is a little late. Jake had his 4 year old birthday party last Saturday. He invited 8 friends and we all went bowling on base. (The Air Force Base) They were having Cosmic Bowling night, so in addition to the cool bumpers, we had flashing psycadelic lights going. Jake loved it.
We had dinner, bowled a game, went outside to hit down a pinata, and ended with cake and presents. The best part for mom was the price (bowling, feeding 8 guests, our 4 kids, and 7 adults = $75.00) There are some perks to being military.
Thanks again to all the parents who stayed and helped out. I don't think Chad and I could have even begun to have handled that kind of chaos on our own. All in all it was a blast of a night. I don't think Jake ever stopped smiling.
Sick Again. . . and Again . . . and Again
So that wonderful cold/flu sick bug found our home. Dad was the first casualty, then 4 days later Mom went down. Last Thursday (another 4 days later) Rebecca caught the bug, then today was Jake's turn. (Although Joey is rivaling the bug with croup.)
If any of you have children with Asthma or Allergies, you know that when cold and flu symptoms hit it's 10 times worse then the average person. Rebecca is no longer throwing up, but she can't stop coughing no matter how many breathing treatments and medicines we try. Joey is our marathon croup baby. Rebecca would go through an episode and it would only last a few hours during the night. Joey's croup doesn't stop. He sounds like this barking, gasping seal. It's so sad. Unfortunately it means that sleep becomes a luxury mom and dad don't get to fully enjoy. I think I was up from 2am to 4:30 either cleaning up vomit, or giving breathing treatments, and Chad helped at 2 but then got up at 5 and well, never really went back to bed. The joys of parenting.
The good news is that we ought to be on the up side of things unless Sara decides to get sick and Joey adds puking to his inability to breath well. But we are crossing our fingers and hoping to be done with this round. To the rest of you out there, I hope that you are all a little bit healthier then we are. Enjoy your week and hey, it's already February.
