I have been seriously slacking on my blog. I guess it doesn't really help that we have all been sick along with Thanksgiving (2 of them) and of course Black Friday.
The last Tuesday in October Damien earned his Bobcat. Just within the last couple of months he had decided he wanted to join Cub Scouts. Here are a few pictures.

Carving Pumpkins and Halloween
I know it's been over a week since Halloween. We have just been super busy and I hadn't taken the time. I don't have any pics of the kids dressed up yet. I am horrible at remembering the camera for important things. Just like for Damien's talent show. I forgot the camera and had to run home to get it. Anyway we always carve our pumpkins the night before Halloween. Damien wanted his to be a vampire, Kaytlinn wanted heart eyes, heart nose, a bow, happy smile and eyelashes. Kylie at first wanted star eyes, triangle nose and a scarey mouth. After I got the eyes carved out she decided she wanted eyelashes also. Then she wanted a bow as well. I was able to fit the eye lashes but the bow had to go in the back. Here are some pictures of them cleaning the pumpkins and the finished product.

Earlier that same night we were on our way home from Fry's and all of a sudden Dennis slammed on the breaks, jumps out of the car and picks up this little itty bitty toad. He has done this quite often. I really have no clue how he could have seen this toad it was so small. So before we carved the pumpkins Dennis let the kids play with the toad for a while before we let it go in the green belt. Kaytlinn and Damien really enjoyed playing with the toad and Kylie was terrified by it. Actually she liked it as long as it wasn't touching her. Here are some pictures of the kids playing with the toad.

My proud moment.
This week in Damien's class the story they are reading is about a little girl who is in a talent show. They decided that they would hold their own talent show in class for the parents to come and watch. Damien had mentioned that he wanted to sign up to play the drums. We really didn't think much about it until yesterday when I remembered. I I sent his teacher an email asking if he did sign up. Sure enough he signed up to play the drums. Now for the last year he has gotten together with my nephew Marcus and they would play like they were in a band. He found some boxes and a few other things and a pair of pencils to make his drums. I guess he figured that was enough for him to be considered a drummer. Anyway, I told Dennis that he needed to show Damien something simple on the drums so he could play in class. So as soon as Dennis got home he set up his snare drum, crash cymbal and his cow bell. He spent about 1 1/2 hours teaching Damien 3 different beats. After dinner Damien practiced a little more and then he got up bright and early to practice some more. I think we are going to have a 3rd generation drummer on our hands here (Dennis and his dad play the drums). Here is the video clip from his class talent show.
