Oh a hunting we will go!

Dennis has been putting in for an Archery Elk hunt for about 5 years now and he finally got drawn. He went out with my dad and my brother Dave everyday for almost 2 weeks. It seemed like all they ever had was bad luck. The first day they had a good spot and the elk were persistent. Of course, that would be the day that they didn't see any elk. Come to find out someone had been out spotlighting just a few hours before they got out there and scared off the elk. They had 2 different Game Warden's stop them. They were calling in an elk and my dad's cell phone rang (oops... he forgot to turn it off), another time Dennis kicked the bucket he was sitting on. He finally got a shot at one the day before he was to leave and he shot over the elk. Missed him and then hit a fence post.

This is the end result to that shot.

His last day hunting he decided to go out with his cousin Danny. They hadn't seen anything in the morning and he had a feeling he wasn't going to see anything in the evening. I get a call about 5:45pm and he is freaking out. First thing that comes to mind is that one of them got shot. Since Dennis was on the phone I instantly thought Dennis shot Danny. That thought quickly went out of my head ad I hear Dennis scream "We got one, We each got one, I think they are 7x7's. I'll call you back." Well come to find out they were headed back in for the evening when they came up on 2 bull elk fighting. They both shot an arrow and hit them. They kept fighting so they shot another arrow and they finally fell. Come to find out they both shot both elk. Danny got a 6x6 and Dennis got a 6x7. He has been so happy that is all he has been talking about it. I am so proud of him for sticking to it even though they have had bad luck trough the whole hunt.

Kylie and Damien's birthday party.

Damien and Kylie had their birthday party together again this year. They wanted to have another pool party but since the only day we could have it was on Sunday they had to deal with having it at Peter Piper Pizza. Maybe next year we can plan a pool party.

Damien was excited to get his first compund bow.

Kylie was excited Grandma gave her her own makeup. No more sharing with sister.

Damien made my life crazy since he wanted a Dale Earnhardt Sr cake. I was racing (pun not intended) around trying to find black frosting. Thank goodness we found it because he almost got gray.

Kylie wanted a Littlest Pet Shop cake. Why can't all their cakes be this easy?

School is back in session

School started on Aug 3rd. Kaytlinn is now in the 1st grade and Damien is in the 4th grade. So far they are really enjoying school. Now it's just Kylie and I at home all day long.

Damien says it was too bright to take pictures.

Swimming lessons

We were told that there was a guy that would be holding swimming lessons in our neighborhood for only $15 for 2 weeks. I figured what could it hurt to sign up the kids. We have put Damien in swimming lessons before but he never really caught on. James did a great job with the kids. Damien learned so much from him. More than he had ever learned from anyone else. I am more comfortable with the way Damien swims now than I was before.

Kylie and Kaytlinn would swim really well as long as they had floaties on. I never felt comfortable taking the floaties off before. After spending a month with James Kaytlinn's floaties are completely off. She now will jump into the deep end (deep end for us is 5 ft LOL) and she doesn't panic. Kylie she swims really well without her floaties but we keep them on hand because she still likes to have them to put on when she gets tired.

Thanks James for doing a great job. I hope you teach swimming lessons next year.

4th of July

I know, it's been over a month. I couldn't find my USB cable for my camera.

On the 4th of July we went over to our friend's Todd and Cindy's for a BBQ, swimming, watching fireworks and putting off a few of our own. We had a lot of fun.

The girls waiting for the fireworks to start.

Damien watching the fireworks with his friend Cheyenne.

Playing with their long sparklers.

A little smokey but having fun.

Happy Birthday Kylie Bug

Today is Kylie's 5th birthday.

Kylie Mom and Dad love you so much. We are so happy you are a part of our family. You are our sweet little cuddle bug. I hope you never change.

I had to add another picture because I can't decide which one I like the best. This picture shows how shy she can be around people she doesn't know.
