Barn Raisin' Part 3

December 6, 2008

Day 3 on the job
Ok... I am really getting excited at this point! The guys have been working a total of three days and we went from a flat surface and a pile of lumber to what actually looks like the makings of a barn!
I was so happy with the progress I bought the guys pizza for lunch.

Barn Raisin' Part 2

December 5, 2008

Day 2 on the job.
They got the rest of the post put up. Those guys are amazing. They made each post by hand. it is three 2 x 6 nailed together. The posts are guarenteed to last for 50 years!

Once the posts were all up they leveled them and nailed 2x4's to the to keep them in place. Then the cement truck arrived!

My dad is a COMPLETE GENIOUS! He designed the arch over the pasture tall enough so that any type of vehicle could get in and out of my back yard! Just look at that! The cement truck drives right in and is able to pour the cement in exactly the right spot! Love it!

Lets Have Ourselves A Barn Raisin' !!!

December 5, 2008

Today is the day!!!!
Cleary's guys came out to start the barn, there was just two of them today and I was just amazed at what two guys could accomplish in a day. Spencer and I watched from the deck as they got to work. Can I just tell you that my heart is bursting out of my chest right now!
Today is the day!!!!

Mike is the forman on the job and he started out by measuring off the barn on the nice flat surface that Roth Landscaping created for us. We have a 6 foot slope from the top of the pasture to the bottom so they had to raise the ground up 33 inches to make a level pad. The barn comes already pre-cut and ready to assemble which is why they couldnt build it on the slope that was originally there.

This is how they ended the day. The majority of the holes are dug and the post are standing up. We have CRAZY wind here in Herriman so the posts are 5 feet deep and all of the outside load bearing posts will be filled with concrete. I am really happy about that because I don't want my barn to end up in the park across the street!

Smokey and Myah

December 2008

We have had Smokey and Myah for almost ten years. Hard to believe that it has been that long. When we got them they were just tiny! Completely different from now lol!
I know I have posted several pictures of Ty with Myah.... but that is usually where you can find the two of them.

Doesn't he look like a little angel boy sleeping with his hands together like that :)

Smokey is indoor/outdoor now. He loves to roam around the yard and he also goes over to visit the Bennette's and lays on their patio and their kids pet him. He is still my little baby.

We Love Mrs. Ostler!

December 2008

Mrs. Ostler is the best teacher on the planet! She is Emily's second grade teacher. Ty comes with me to help in her class and he usually ends up doing the work that they are doing at the time. He loves school and loves learning. He has also decided that he doesnt want to be called Spencer anymore and goes by Ty. It has thrown his preschool teacher... Teacher Terri for a loop and it has caused me to jump back and forth too. If i just need him I usually say Ty but when he is in trouble a big long Spencer comes out.

Em and Ty's New Rooms are Ready!

December 1, 2008

Up until now, Emily and Spencer have had to share a room. The room that is now Spencers has been our office since we moved into the house. With them getting SO big and needing a place to put their stuff it was time to get the office moved downstairs! Both of the kids picked out what color they wanted their room to be. It was quite a contrast to the tan walls and ceiling they had before! Now you walk down the hall to the "pink" and "blue" room.
I got Spencer's bed at IKEA. He needs something low to the ground because that boy literally rolls around in his sleep and falls out of bed ALL the time! I feared for his life should we have gotten him a loft bed like Emily's.
We got Emily's bed at RC Willey. IT was sooo exciting when the truck pulled up out front. Emily was at school so she came home to a whole new room.  I am really excited about her little desk under the bed.  Their rooms are not huge so it was nice to get the bed up high and have that useable space down below.  I hope that when she is bigger she will sit in there and do her homework or her art.
I am so happy that they have their own space now and can have a room to call their own.

Thanksgiving 2008

November 27,2008

Thanksgiving was with the Coleman's this year. We had it at Jim and Lisa's church and had a wonderful time. The kids put on a little play that they made up for everyone. And Grandma Coleman is still with us. She is such a dear lady.
I love this time of year. We just had all the excitement of Halloween and now comes the joyful time. Thinking about all that we are Thankful for keeping Christ in our thoughts a little bit more than we usually do.
I am so grateful for my fantastic husband who keeps me laughing and happy and my two beautiful kids who are my whole world! It was a great day filled with Family and good food!
We also went to the movies and saw Bolt. We all loved it.

I made a Cowboy Costume for Josh!

October 21, 2008

So Kathi told me that Joshie wanted to be a cowboy for Halloween and she was strapped to find a costume. Couldnt fine one anywhere! I was at Walmart and found a pattern and thought what the heck... might as well try!
I was so excited with the way it turned out! Ty modeled it for me before I mailed it up to Josh. The vest was reversable with a cow print on the inside.
Kathi reported that he loved the hat, vest and guns! Woohoo! Love happy endings! Who knew I could do that?!?!?!

Mom Treated us to the Transiberian Orchestra Concert

November 13, 2008

My darling mom treated us all to a concert tonight! I had never been to a Transiberian Orchestra Concert before and it was quite the experience. It was like Manheim Steamrollers on AcId! But it was awesome! Mom, Grandma, Steph, Me, Andy, Joanie and Vicki. We ate dinner at Sizzler before and then went to the concert at the E center.
Thanks mom! You are the best!

My Little Sleeping Artist

November 7, 2008

I was busy on the computer in the living room and hadnt heard anything from Emily for quite a while so I got up to go look for her. I ended up finding her on the floor in the kitchen between the stove and island. She had been coloring and gotten sleepy and fell asleep right there on the floor. It made me smile so I had to take a few pictures.

Finishing Part of the Basement

November 7, 2008

Woohooooo! I have the most exciting news! We are going to finally finish the basement with the exception of the main room where Kenny holds his LAN parties. We had a few companies come out and give us a bid for the sheetrock/tape/mud job and one of the contractors suggested that we knock out the door at the end of our stairs and open up that hallway so that we dont have a door opening up to a bunch of doors. We will have a food storage room and a kitty litter room at the end of the stairs on the left and then double doors on the right into the main room.
We are also finishing the hallway in the back. There will be storage under the stairs and doors on the storage room and utility room. Double doors on the room to the right that will be our playroom/exerccise room and on the left side will be our office. We have just started the framing and I have a HUGE mess of boxes to go through and scale WAYYYYY down but it is sooo exciting to see progress!
