Two Weeks, and It's Not Enough
Soft forehead creasing,
infant thoughts struggling to be expressed...
Eyes, two liquid pools of hope,
pleading...
The music plays
netting swirls
bubbling laughter
and rhythms I can barely understand.
I can only watch and wonder
and beg
Please,
oh please, my sisters,
please save some of 'the princess game' for me...
I like 'animals hiding from the storm,'
and 'dancing flower fairies,'
and 'horsey parties' best.
Oh, my sisters,
I will grow
as quickly as I can,
But please,
oh please,
...you don't.

My brothers are so very grown-up they think numbers, and computer
games, and books, and dice games and piles of papers, and
many brightly-colored running games are exciting.

Do not look at this if you just had a cesarean and laughing still hurts!
It is always interesting to see how politicians strain at gnats during election season. Some of the most emphatically argued positions are those which have the least rational basis or relevance. Pooka said she was grateful she didn't have stitches/staples in her tummy when she saw the image below because she'd have ripped them out with laughing.
For those who have been wise enough to ignore all election news, a bit of background is required here...
A few days ago, John Kerry said "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." Some who heard this took offense, feeling like he was indicating that those who don't succeed in education enter the military and serve in Iraq. He stumbled a bit in making his apology - taking a couple days to do it. This allowed his phrase to go 'nucular', so to speak.
In the mean time some soldiers in Iraq have taken the opportunity to reach out to him for support:
