February

On February 5 our little Carter Bug turned 2! He is getting so big. He's talking a lot- mostly in his own language but new words and sentences are starting to pop up everyday. Some of his favorite things to say are:

Jew - Sounds just like "Jew" but means Juice which could mean apple juice, chocolate milk or water

Bock- Most of the time he calls Brock "Da Da" but every once in a while he is on a first name basis

Ah Ah A Car - This means "Can I watch Cars?"

Guck - This could mean Duck, Stuck or Truck. Based on the moment you can figure which it is pretty fast. Although he refers to our Ipad as Guck- we don't know which meaning it is.

A Ta Ta Tau- If you hear him say this to you, it means your in big trouble. We're pretty sure he is cursing when he says this.

Mow Mow - Lawn mower (refer to last post for pictures - he is still obsessed)

Hank You - Thank you (it's about the cutest thing in the world to hear)

Those are the favorites but he is also forming sentences like "Where go Da Da?" and "Here go Ma Ma". He loves animals and hearing him make animal noises is so cute in his little high pitched voice! Even though he is getting so big, he's still just our little baby that sleeps in really weird positions.

This picture was taken a couple days before Carter's birthday -on Grandma Melba's birthday. They had a surprise party for her at the nursing home that's named after her husband. It was fun to see her so surprised and the staff was so nice and gave Carter a huge bunch of balloons. I think this may have been the happiest moment of his life.

We had a birthday party with the Riley's the day before his birthday. We went to Chick-fil-a and then to Grandma Pam's house after. Grandma and Grandpa gave him cars from the movie Cars. He loves them!

We made Carter a birthday cake out of Oreos since he doesn't really like cake or ice cream

We went swimming at the aquatic center with my family. He had so much fun. I don't know how many times he went down the big slide. Each time he would come down he'd say "Gain" which means again so we all took turns taking him down.

Grandma and Grandpa Barlow gave him a Cars scooter. He hasn't figured out that he can move it on his own so we push him...... really he probably knows he can do it himself but is smarter than us and prefers us to do the work.

Jenn gave him Car's ping pong paddles, Car's stickers and a few of the cars from the movie. He was in heaven.

We gave him a train track and Liza's family gave him Thomas trains.

Disneyland

We had a couple flight vouchers that were going to expire so we planned a trip to California over President's Day weekend. The picture above was Carter hanging out while I was packing.

We went to Disneyland two days while we were there and Carter LOVED it. He really liked all the rides except Pirates of the Caribbean, at the start he sat on my lap and put his head in Brock's lap and didn't look up until it was over. The picture above is just after we went on the Jungle Cruise. He loved the elephants.

We ran him ragged so around lunch time we would go back to our hotel and sit by the pool while Carter napped on a beach chair.

Carter is a big fan of Mickey. He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse but we weren't sure how he'd do seeing a life size version. He was a little reluctant at first but he went as long as I was with him.

On the second day we saw Mickey again but there was a long line so we didn't stop. As we were walking by, Carter started pulling on my neck and when I put him down he grabbed my leg and was trying to move me towards him. So we stayed for a bit and waved at him and when he left he said over and over "hot dog hot dog hot dog" which means The hot dog dance from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. You had to be there but it was so cute.

We also went to Huntington beach and did some shopping. We ate at Dukes then played on the beach.

Day two at Disneyland on the train

The teacups were by far Carter's favorite ride. We went on them a couple times and he would laugh the whole time.

Where We've Been

Almost a whole year has gone by without updating anything on my blog so I thought I would do a recap about what each of us in the Riley house has been up to.

CARTER

Soon after we returned home from Hawaii Carter started walking, pretty soon after that he started running. He is a super active little boy.

Carter loves everything about mowing the lawn and if someone will let him he is eager to help.

Carter had his first visit to the zoo.

He realized how much he loves being naked.

Carter loved the 4th of July, the parade with the fire trucks, swimming and fire works.

Before

After

Kade and Brooklin were married in May.

Easter was a new adventure for Carter. He loved opening the eggs and of course eating candy.

Halloween was so fun this year. Brock was a pumpkin, I was a geisha and carter was a gorilla. He loved his costume......

This is pretty much what he did all night.

We went up to Logan for a few football games.

Carter was very sceptical of Santa although he loves pointing to any picture of him and saying "anta".

Opening presents at Grandma's house

Another new thing for Carter this past year was Time Out. This is his regular face when he's in time out and you have to control yourself from hugging him or laughing.

Did I mention that he likes lawn mowers? Pam and Jim got him a toy lawn mower for Christmas and he won't go anywhere without it. In this picture I'm reading him a bed time story and he has to have it on his lap the whole time.

BONNIE

In June my sister Katie talked me into going out to Denver to train for a new exercise class. Torie, my parents, me and Carter went out for a weekend. My parents watched Miles, Ava and Carter while me, Torie and Katie trained all weekend. Below are pictures of us posing like we're the professionals when really we could hardly move we were so sore and tired.

These are two of the instructors I teach with at Gold's Gym. We took this picture after our big launch where we did the whole class in the dark.

This past fall I coached the Sophomore volleyball team at Layton High. My girls were so great and loved playing with Carter.

BROCK

Brock is still working on his MBA but will be done this summer, thankfully. He has been working crazy hours and still doing really well with school.

In November, Brock turned the big 30 so we decided paint balling would be a good way to celebrate. Both of our families came and it was a lot of fun...well besides my dad getting hit in the jaw and bleeding. Besides that there were few injuries but it was pretty exciting.

Brock, Pam, Jim, Liza, Tad and Kamden. McCall, Brady, my dad, me and Brady Bodily also played. My mom, Jenn and Reagan went and played with the kids.
