I have been feeling so overwhelmed lately with all the blessing Mark and I have received.
  1. I'm Graduating with my degree
  2. We are paying off Mark's school loans and should be done with them in about a year :)
  3. I have an amazing job that I love, and just received a great full-time offer that will help us out a lot financially :)
  4. Mark is doing great in school, in a major he loves
  5. Mark has an amazing internship with Boeing and has had great opportunities to research with his professors
  6. We're still in love :)
  7. We have fantastic friends
  8. We are both healthy
What more could a gal ask for?

Answers for Jaraka

My friend Jaraka tagged me in a post, and asked me answer these questions about myself, so here goes :)

1. If you could live in any decade of American history, which would you choose and why? During the revolutionary war. yes there was blood, and death, and sorrow, but we were fighting for something we truly believed in and wanted more than anything else and then we got it. How fulfilling is that?
2. Who was your first best friend? Amanda Rae Mason. Met when we were 5 at our local swimming pool and stayed best friends all the way through high school :)
3. If you could be on any reality TV show, which would you choose? Ugh. I hate reality t.v...I don't even know what shows there are...
4. What's worse loving and losing? Or never loving in the first place? Tough one...If you never love, you don't know what it is like, so how do you know if you like it or would miss it? But then you would see everyone else in love, so I guess you would have some idea what it is like. Therefore, I would rather love and lose.
5. What's your favorite scent of lotion/perfume/etc? The apple scents by DKNY.
6. What's your favorite Harry Potter book? (Because obviously you've read them and enjoyed each of them) Ugh! Number 4? No...number 7! ...tie?
7. If you hang out with the characters of any of your favorite childhood TV shows, who would you pick? I was obsessed with the Power Rangers and even had Power Ranger Panties...TMI? Sorry.
8. You find an abandoned puppy dog at the park.  What do you do? Take it home, put up a sign saying I found it/am giving it away. I love dogs, and would be tempted to keep it...but then you deal with dog hair everywhere, vet bills, potty training, room and board whenever you want to go on vacation...they are just so expensive!
9. Gold? Silver? or Pearls? Pearls! Hands down.
10. Would you rather have 10 kids or 2? 2.
11. What is the one quality that you love most about yourself? hmmm...probably my determination to get the job done and get it done right.

Count Down

All midterms taken-check
Graduation cap, gown, and invites ordered-check
Job after graduation-check

All that stands between me and that diploma are three papers and one final!!!!

Bring it on. I dare you.

Parenthood According to Laci...

I hate it when I hear people be so negative about children. I often hear things like

oh just wait...they are great when they are babies...but then they grow up ( to this person I say, what are they, puppies???)
Ugh, finally we get to be alone
Kids are so needy
Once you have a kid your life is over
Think of all the things you won't be able to do once you have kids

And a plethora more. And I admit, I have thought a few of these more than once. Not too encouraging to young married couples guys...I'm just being honest. Why is parenthood looked on as such a burden? Yes I am positive that it is most definitely one of the hardest things anyone can do, and yes I am positive that it is most definitely miserable on some days...but does everyone have to be so negative about it all the time? Why don't we ever hear any good stories? Or hear any parents that talk about all the great things that come with parenting?

I found this little gem and loved it: http://katiewetherbee.wordpress.com/2012/02/06/joy-or-just-wait/

Like anything else, parenthood is not always glamorous, but instead of regaling everyone in the world with horror stories and negativity, see the good in it. Please. For your sake and for your child's sake.

Fave Quote

"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity."
- Margaret D. Nadauld

I have always been competitive and ambitious and have had a "get it done" attitude. However, I feel like a lot of times those good qualities become my bad qualities. Sometimes in getting the task done, I forget that people are people, and I focus so much on being the best, that I lose sight of others and lifting them up.

Here's to self awareness and wanting to be a better woman. There are enough men in the world to do what I do.

I'm In Love!

With my job.

I had my first day at Adobe today and I LOVE it already. Everyone was sooo nice. There is an on site gym with showers, 4 break rooms with free snacks and drinks, a "music room" where you can play piano or guitar on the instruments provided, an XBox 360 where people can be found playing rock band and Halo during breaks, and a few pool and Foosball tables.

Also, I can already tell that my co-workers and I will be two peas in a pod. When I logged in to my work computer, my desktop background had been set to a Justin Bieber desktop. hahahaha. That co worker is now called Biebs by me. On the whiteboard in my office my co workers wrote me nice/funny welcome notes. The girl in the office next to me is super nice and friendly and around my age.

All of the conference rooms are named after Adam Sandler movies, including but not limited to waterboy and 50 first dates. The IT people are down in the basement, and above the door, etched in glass it says "not the basement". They prefer to call it the "Garden Landing" (sounds way better than a basement right?) People have their offices decorated super fun and I can't wait to decorate mine!

In other news, Adobe is ranked #41 on the top 100 companies to work for for 2012, and I can definitely see why.

I love my job.
