The Limbaugh Effect

Rush Limbaugh has always been on the cutting edge in marketing his show for now 21 years. Not sure if Rush knows or has already mentioned this but seems Squawk Box on CNBC picked up on his success and is doing it on their show.

Lately, before work I watch and listen to Squawk Box. I like listening to Joe Kernen. The show seems to be very successful for CNBC. My opinion the only successful show on CNBC.

I couldn't put my finger on it and then it hit me. They're running bumper music before and after commercial breaks. I know in the past they would play some music or had their standard lead ins but now it's changed for the better.

They will not admit it but in my opinion they see success and had to run
with it on the show.

How can the liberal left say Rush is a bigot?

Watching Squawk Box this morning on CNBC and the Obamas comment, "go play with yourself" about Rush came up. Carl played dumb, Becky made the STUPID comment that Rush did not comment on the Page Six article and Joe Kernen hit it out of the park. Paraphrasing, he (Rush) did comment, Rush said they had the wrong guy, they were talking about Bill Clinton. Way to go Joe!

Joe Kernan and Rick Santelli are the only two people on CNBC who say it like it is. The rest of the network is just a bunch of lackeys for the left. If FoxBusiness could get Kernen and Santelli,

I invited him to my home where we discussed it further. Even after informing him that some people might try to make an issue of my participation, Mr. Checketts said he didn't much care. As I explained on my radio show, this spectacle is bigger than I am on several levels. There is a contempt in the news business, including the sportswriter community, for conservatives that reflects the blind hatred espoused by Messrs. Sharpton and Jackson. "Racism" is too often their sledgehammer. And it is being used to try to keep citizens who don't share the left's agenda from participating in the full array of opportunities this nation otherwise affords each of us. It was on display many years ago in an effort to smear Clarence Thomas with racist stereotypes and keep him off the Supreme Court. More recently, it was employed against patriotic citizens who attended town-hall meetings and tea-party protests.

These intimidation tactics are working and spreading, and they are a cancer on our society.

Mr. Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated talk radio host.

Patients have beat cancer and so we will beat the liberal left, one step at a time. The first step is local politics and the 2010 election.

Here’s what bothers me most about the way Rush Limbaugh has had to bow out of his latest, costliest hobby, that of buying part of an NFL team: It’s the excuse that Limbaugh was too “divisive.”

The group bidding for the St. Louis Rams said it was dropping Limbaugh because the talk show host “complicated” the deal. You can say that: From the least sports-page hack commentator to national political neoplasms such as Jesse Jackson, a segment of America went into hysterics at the thought that the left wing’s chief hate object of the past 20 years would buy a sports team.

It resembled nothing so much as those scandals in Victorian novels revolving around some Jewish character trying to move into polite society, where others would ask, “How could we let that sort into the club?”

The superficial claim was that Limbaugh was racist. The chief evidence offered in more restrained news accounts was that in 2003, he said this on national TV about a quarterback:

“Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go,” Limbaugh said. “I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team.”

I don’t know whether Donovan McNabb wasn’t that good. I’m not certain that the media was eager to see a black quarterback do well, though the suggestion certainly comports with my profession’s obsessive beliefs about race. It’s not an absurd argument, especially now in light of how the American press by and large wet itself with eagerness to promote another man, the wholly unqualified Barack Obama, largely on account of his being a racial pioneer. Limbaugh said that a quarterback was benefitting from a kind of affirmative action. And? There’s nothing racist about saying that.

So, naturally, commentators had to sex it up. John Hinderaker notes how my profession of journalism, especially CNN, shamelessly repeated made-up quotes slanderously attributed to Limbaugh. Ed Driscoll rounds up the slanders (and the debunking), which included one from a St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports columnist who, when forced to admit he repeated a fabrication, essentially said it didn’t matter the quote was fake.

Others proceeded similarly: Yesterday, an MSNBC commentator said, “Several NFL players have already said they would not play for Rush because they know he would love to say he owns a plantation full of black men.” They know no such thing, objected the host, to which the commentator, Touré, replied, “They feel it.”

If you say so. The matter of whether Limbaugh actually said the truly racist things attributed, falsely, to him was easier to check, points out the Telegraph’s Toby Harnden. You just have to look beyond Wikipedia:

“The irony is, of course, that the people reporting (Limbaugh's racism) as fact are the same types who are always denouncing bloggers and the internet as forces of evil intent on destroying proper journalism – proper journalism being the kind that involves checking facts. In the case of Rush Limbaugh, however, it seems to be enough that the intention (i.e. to show the talk radio host is a racist) is considered pure.”

The matter really is about hate – the kind that drives sports columnists to repeat falsehoods in big-name newspapers and then say it doesn’t matter. Or that drives MSNBC’s Chris Matthews to blurt eagerly about the idea of “somebody's going to jam a CO2 pellet into (Limbaugh’s) head and he's going to explode like a giant blimp.” Matthews later sort of apologized, though it was a useful glimpse into the mind-set.

The mind-set seems to be this: That if someone says conservative things, he is bad. If he says them long enough or to a large enough audience, he is so bad it’s OK to fantasize about blowing him up or to make up false evidence of racism and to repeat it without even cursory journalistic safeguards.

I’m not worried about Limbaugh – he’s a grown-up and can take it. I catch a little of it myself, via hate e-mails and inchoate rage from lefty commentators on my blog, but it pretty much rolls off. It’s just trash-talk.

What I am worried about is people who don’t comment for a living: Some schmoe who writes an essay for the paper and gets gobsmacked by left-wing vein-poppers calling him names, for instance. That’ll put you off the idea of civic engagement. People who at long last got involved in politics this summer, via tea parties, only to be called racists by no less than Jimmy Carter – what did they do to deserve the utterly baseless hurling of the most potent accusation now available in American society?

What’s happening, from Chris Matthews’ lies to Jimmy Carter’s, is simply the left trying to delegitimize conservatives wherever possible. Everything we say will be branded racist, somehow, and just holding the beliefs we do will be “divisive.”

Divisive screws up your life. It separates you from polite society, which is the point: The left is eager for conservatism to be socially unacceptable. Unable to debate, it slanders. The Battle Of The War Begins

This will only light a fire under conservatives and the conservative movement in this country. It will only be a matter of time before we take back this country from the liberal left. The smearing viscous lies and comments of racism in this country from the left is foul and nauseating. I am sick and tired of be called someone or something I am not. I am not a fool, I am not a nut, I am not racist, I will not stand by and stay silent while the loony left badmouths me, or my beliefs! I love this country and I will take it back! It started with tea parties. We now move to the next level.

The battle has to start at the local level. The battle has to start with school boards, town and city representatives and spread through out all forms of government! RINO's, moderates, blue bloods, Washington insiders, RTA and roundabout lovers you all are not welcome! We are not interested in your opinion! Anyone deciding to run for any office will have to be conservative.

The gloves are off. As Todd Beamer said on United Airlines Flight 93, " LET'S ROLL! Conservatives, STAND UP, UNITE and be COUNTED!

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a bid led by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts, but Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had complicated the effort. The group will move forward without him.

Checketts said he will have no further comment on the bid process. Limbaugh did not immediately respond to an e-mail sent late Wednesday seeking comment on Checketts' decision.

Limbaugh said on his radio show earlier Wednesday that he had been inundated with e-mails from listeners who supported him in the bid.

"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.

"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."

Limbaugh's bid ran into opposition from within the image-conscious NFL on Tuesday when Colts owner Jim Irsay said he would vote against the radio personality. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider.

The league tries to avoid getting snared in controversial issues outside sports, which has caused Limbaugh trouble in the past. In 2003, he was forced to resign from ESPN's Sunday night football broadcast after saying of Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb: "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."

The Rams had no comment, reissuing a statement from Oct. 5 in which owner Chip Rosenbloom said a review of the team's ownership was under way and the club will make an announcement when it's over.

Checketts, the chairman of SCP Worldwide, announced that Limbaugh had been dumped toward the end of a news release.

"It has become clear that his involvement in our group has become a complication and a distraction to our intentions; endangering our bid to keep the team in St. Louis," Checketts said. "As such, we have decided to move forward without him and hope it will eventually lead us to a successful conclusion."

The move was hailed by the Rev. Al Sharpton, one of the most vocal critics of Limbaugh's bid.

"It is a moral victory for all Americans—especially the players that have been unfairly castigated by Rush Limbaugh," Sharpton said in a statement. "This decision will also uphold the unifying standards of major sports."

Sharpton added in a telephone interview that major sports leagues shouldn't welcome owners who are "divisive and incendiary."

Every major pro sports franchise has dealings with its community, he said. "It's unfair for taxpayers to be underwriting people who denigrate them," he said.

Checketts said Limbaugh would have not had any say in the direction of the franchise "or in any decisions regarding personnel or operations."

Before getting dropped, Limbaugh said he had no intention of backing out.

"I'm not even thinking of caving," he said. "I am not a caver. Pioneers take the arrows. We are pioneers. It's a sad thing that our country, over 200 years old now, needs pioneers all over again, but we do."

Rush Limbaugh may command a large following, but his caustic comments Monday about the GOP’s congressional leadership have at least one Republican House member defending his colleagues and offering an unusually candid critique of the talk radio powerhouse and his fellow commentators.

Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He's more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn't say much about our party."

Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.

Somebody in Georgia better straighten out Mr Gingrey.

Those who say they are in the GOP better stand up right now for the Conservative base or stick their tail between their legs and change their party affiliation to the democratic party. We do not want you!

This is getting to be over the top. Why do people who call themselves republicans elected to Washington DC completely lose their minds and turn moderate and kiss up the the left.

Rush is right, the GOP that votes for this stimulus bill will get the blamed for it. Stand up for our beliefs and stop Obama and what the democratic party is doing to this country.

Rush Limbaugh is offering to teach a civics lesson to a Green Bay middle school after a teacher complained about his radio show's presentation of Tuesday's presidential inauguration broadcast throughout the school that included the conservative commentator's opinions.

Come on Edison, take up his offer. What are you afraid of?

"The radio was tuned to WTAQ News Radio, which during that time slot, broadcast the ceremonies through the Rush Limbaugh show," Brooker said. "During the time, Limbaugh provided commentary. Once realizing the form of the commentary through which the ceremonies were being broadcast, the station was turned to another broadcast of the inauguration.

How come we didn't hear about the school changing the station before? Some closet conservative in the office will be fired over this. Watch and see.

I wonder if the school would receive this offer in good faith," Limbaugh said on his show. "I'll go up there, I'll do a couple lectures on civics, give some students a ride on (my private jet) and give economics to them if the middle school in question is interested."

What a teaching moment that would be. I would pay or donate to the school to see Rush at Edison. If the school is short on funding they could make this into a Dans Bake sale. School board, take him up on his offer.
