You need to educate yourself on current events and stop looking through whatever politically-colored glasses you've put on. Obama and the Democrats did NOT get us into the mess this economy is in right now. Lack of restrictions on Wall Street (not to mention a legislature controlled by lobbyists of wealthy special interest groups) caused the vast majority of the downfall. (Gee, I wonder who was in power at that point?!) I hope the 99% take back control soon.

Reid Ribble's "Real World" Conflict-of-Interest

MADISON-In a fit of self-pity in a newspaper from a neighboring Congressional District, Tea Party Congressman Reid Ribble has refused to acknowledge the sleazy $10,000 in campaign cash he pocketed from an industry group, or his role in trying to manipulate federal safety regulations for the profit of his family business. Instead, Ribble called the ethical mess an example of "real-world experience."

Can someone please give the Wisconsin Dems so med's. Who named Reid Ribble the Tea Party Congressman? If that's the way the dems think, they will be a push over in 2012. "Tea Party Congressman", holy cow!

Ribble is not from the tea party! I'm not alone on that. Ribble's a republican insider. Look who's standing next to Boehner. Suck Up.

That was the intent, he said, when he participated this week in a subcommittee hearing on a proposal by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to protect workers on roofing projects.

But in doing so, the Sherwood Republican drew criticism from a consumer advocacy group that said he had no business participating in a hearing on a regulation governing an industry to which he still has ties.

Huh? Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Ribble Up Against Democrat Wall For 2012

Frustrated with what he sees as a "mess" in Washington, Green Bay business consultant Jamie Wall is launching a bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble, R-Sherwood, who serves the 8th Congressional District.

"Congress is broken," Wall said. "It's time for members of Congress to act like adults instead of squabbling children (and) focus on the issues that matter more than anything to the people who sent them to Washington, which is the economy and jobs.

" Wall, 40, who lost a 2006 primary race for the seat to Steve Kagen of Appleton, is the first Democrat to enter the 2012 contest.

Huh, interesting.

Reid Ribble Should Switch Parties

The Green Bay Press has this article about Reid Ribble the Congressman from the Wis. 8th District. You really need to read the whole article to get the full arrogance of Reid Ribble.

Ribble, who represents the 8th Congressional District, has not voted since the 2010 midterms, when he ousted incumbent Democrat Steve Kagen of Appleton. 

 He was the only member of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation to skip the April 5 spring election, which featured a high-profile race for the state Supreme Court. And of the five members of Congress who are registered to vote in state Senate districts that held a recall election this summer, Ribble is the only one who didn’t vote. 

 On Monday, Ribble called his failure to vote in the April 5 election “an unfortunate and unforced error,” and disclosed for the first time that he hasn’t lived in the 8th Congressional District since March, which explains why he didn’t vote in an Aug. 9 recall election targeting state Sen. Robert Cowles, R-Allouez.

Let me get this straight. 


1) This wasn't in the article but it kind of goes with the actions of Reid Ribble. Ribble votes like Obama in voting "Present" on H.J. Res 77. So he can't vote yes or no? Do you know how many times Obama voted present? 129 times.

2) Ribble didn't vote in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race with Prosser? Why not? 


3) Ribble didn't vote in Wisconsin state senate race with Cowles? Why not? 


4) Ribble moved out of the 8th district last March and told everyone he moved out this summer. Oh, looks like he lied. 


5) Ribble promised not to miss another vote again. How can we believe him? 


I do not trust Reid Ribble on anything he says or does. I am conservative and did not vote for and will not vote for Ribble in the future. Remember, Ribble replaced Pelosi puppet Steve Kagen.

 I worked to get Steve Kagen replaced but there are a couple things I know about Steve Kagen. You could hate Kagen for his votes, dislike Kagen for what he stood for, Not understand what Kagen would say, yes Kagen would make things up (men's bathroom with Cheney) Kagen would hide things from the voters. Kagen didn't pretend to be someone one he wasn't. Kagen was just a typical Democrat. Everyone knew that. 


So now were stuck with Ribble, a so called republican who acts just like a democrat. You Ribble voters must be really proud. It will be interesting to see all the die hard Ribble supporters explain this one. Come on man, explain this one.


If Ribble is going to act like a democrat, talk like a democrat, vote like a democrat, why doesn't he just switch parties? I'm sure the democrats will take him in a heart beat.

RIBBLE SETS RECORD STRAIGHT ON RESIDENCY

Washington D.C. – Representative Reid Ribble released the following statement to address the latest inquiries about his home in Sherwood, WI which is located just outside of the current District 8 boundary lines.

“My wife and I initially put our Sherwood house up for sale last year.  When the listing contract with our first realtor expired we hired a new real estate agent and put the house back on the market this year at a sizeable price reduction.  Unfortunately, our second time listing the house brought the same result as the first and we did not close a buyer.

“Since our kids are grown, my wife and I have felt that a family-sized home was unnecessary. We have discussed for awhile the desire to downsize and move into a smaller home that requires less maintenance. As empty nesters, we don’t need the same amount of space as we did when we had our kids running around. Along with that, my schedule requires a lot of traveling to and from Washington and around the district. We wish the home would have sold, but unfortunately the tough housing market prevented this from happening.

“With the listing contract coming to an end soon, the house is coming off the market until the housing market turns around. We are not immune to the negative effects of the unsteady housing market and just like many Americans across the country we have had to change our plans. 

“I have a long and personal tie to the 8th District and assertions to challenge this are just ridiculous. I grew up in Appleton, went to Appleton East High School, and coached Volleyball at Appleton East High School for over 20 years. My roofing business was located in Kaukauna and my wife’s long time book store was also in Appleton. Sherwood is about four miles over the current congressional boundary line and it is so close that the property taxes we pay go to the Kaukauna School District, which is in the 8^th District.

“Northeast Wisconsin is my home and always will be, and that fact has made serving the people of Wisconsin more meaningful than words can describe.

“I said last year when asked from time to time about this issue that the Constitution doesn’t care where I sleep at night - and with my schedule that’s about all I’m doing at that house…sleeping. 

“With all the challenges our nation is facing during these difficult times, focus should be on creating jobs for the millions of unemployed and getting our economy back on track instead of wasting time on inconsequential matters. I took a vow when I was elected to Congress to represent the people of the 8th District to the best of my abilities and I will continue to work each and every day on the issues that will help improve the lives of Northeastern Wisconsin residents.”

Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states that Representatives must be residents of their states, but do not necessarily have to live within their districts.

First, let me be up front here. I didn't vote for Ribble for this very reason. 


Second, Reid Ribble was not and is not a tea party republican. He's a Washington elite republican. He doesn't care a rats behind on what his constituents think about where he lives. Read the above PR again. Took an apartment in DePere. Question, if the house was not selling why didn't he reduce the price,  $595,000? Answer, he didn't want to sell it. He knew he was going to move back to his house all along. 


Question, why does he keep throwing out Article 1, Section 2? Answer because he knows he doesn't have to live in the 8th district. Did he really live in the DePere apartment? 


Has anyone asked about his vacation house in, where is it, Tennessee? Will he live there and still work his Wisconsin job? 


Ribble is raising tons of campaign money and will do what ever he wants. He will buy his next election! 


Reid Ribble will sell out the people of the Wisconsin 8th District some day and everyone but me will be surprised. He already said he wants to compromise with democrats and Obama. If he gets bored of congress he will stay in Washington and become a lobbyist. Money buys power and power corrupts. 


Reid Ribble will just keep doing what Reid Ribble wants, the hell with the rest. 

Ribble, A Carpetbagger?

A state Democratic Party official said the matter isn't difficult to understand what is going on with the first-term Republican.

"So he's a carpetbagger in other words," said spokesman Graeme Zielinski.

Officials said Ribble, who runs a family roofing business in Kaukauna, is not doing anything illegal. Last year, he defeated then-U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen, an Appleton Democrat.

Sally Wood, communications director for the Committee on House Administration, said the U.S. Constitution doesn't mandate that federal lawmakers live in their congressional districts. It simply says they must reside in the state they represent when elected, Wood said.

Olson said the Ribbles had their Sherwood house on the market for some time. The asking price had been $595,000, according to newspaper reports. 

Ribble and his wife wanted to move to a smaller house because most of their kids are grown and he spends much of his time on campaigning and serving in Congress.

But they'll probably wait a while before listing it with another agent.

"The housing market and economy are so tough it's likely they will be there for a bit," Olson said.

So what did Zielinski call Ribble? A "C A R P E T B A G G E R"?

Doesn't mandate? Right. I remember Reid told me that before the election.

Huh, $595,000 for the house? Was the house ever shown? Who was the realtor? Did he ever reduce the price? Is the house really worth $595,000?

Hummmmmmmm?

Probably wait before listing again? Yea, sure, I have a bridge to sell someone too.

First-term U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble has moved out of the 8th Congressional District he represents in Northeastern Wisconsin. The Republican congressman has returned to a house he owns in Sherwood, several miles outside the 8th District.

Ribble put the house up for sale while running for Congress last year and moved into an apartment in the town of Lawrence, southwest of Green Bay, which is within the 8th District.

Ribble spokeswoman Ashley Olson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the Sherwood house is coming off the market because the contract with the listing agent expires this week. Ribble's district is being redrawn and will include his Sherwood home in 2013.

Committee on House Administration spokeswoman Sally Wood said the U.S. Constitution requires federal lawmakers to reside within the state they represent, but doesn't mandate that they live in their districts.

O K, so I call the above number around 3:40 PM and talk to the Ribble office or that is who Karl said where he was from when he picked up the phone. I will paraphrase the conversation since I don't tape my phone calls yet. 


I first asked him is the meeting tonight or Wednesday? I said his e mail and face book page both said, Wednesday May 2nd. He did tell me the meeting was Wednesday. Didn't seem to care the e mail and Face book was wrong. Went right over his head, he didn't care! Oh brother, Houston, we have a problem. Obviously he didn't care they have it wrong! 


I then asked him if I sign up on Face Book why I would want Face Book to have my name, phone number, and e mail address put out across Face Book? I thought he would give me the right answer but had to settle for this. He said, he doesn't know. WHAT!!!! He doesn't do Face Book so he didn't know. You think I'm kidding you, Wait. 


He had my phone number from caller ID and repeated my 715 home phone number. I gave him my e mail address and he said they would contact me on the meeting. I asked will they call me or give me an e mail? He wasn't sure but someone would contact me. He just wasn't sure about anything in our conversation. 


Oh brother, is this the kind of Congressman people in the Wisconsin 8th are getting? 

I will say when ever I called Steve Kagen's office, if they didn't have an answer they said they would get back to me. I can't believe I would say this. At least Kagen had a competent staff. What the heck do we have now with Ribble? 


Do I have to make the transfer of Kagen to Ribble on the Obama / Pelosi puppet Reid Ribble?

Mr Ribble, can't you just be the congressman people expect from you, do your job and cut big government. Can you please direct your staff to do their job. If they don't have an answer, then have someone call their constituent back. 


Let me be honest here. I didn't vote for Ribble but did vote in the election that elected him. I live in his district and have a right to speak my mind pro or con on Reid Ribble! 


Last week I read he had a town hall meeting and never got any information about it. I e mailed Ribble's office and they told me to sign up for his newsletter. Is this what I get for trying to get information from Congressman Reid Ribble? Wednesday, May 2nd phone Town Hall meeting? 


I will say I have been busy following the Holperin Recall. I guess I have to be the only one in the the Wisconsin 8th to keep Ribble honest!


Ever since Reid Ribble lied to me about his residency issue before the election, I will hold his feet to the fire until he proves he is the congressman we deserve in Washington. 

Ribble Moving Left, Shocked!!!!!!!

I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED that Reid Ribble would go along wirh Obama on ending oil subsidies.

A few weeks ago, Republican Rep. Reid Ribble caused barely a ripple when he suggested that Congress should consider ending federal tax breaks for the highly profitable oil and gas industry.

Barely a ripple, I must of missed this. Seems John Boehner is on board with him too!

But House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, sent shock waves through the Republican establishment when he likewise suggested on ABC News that oil and gas subsidies should be on the table in the budget debate as the federal government is buckling under the weight of nearly $15 trillion in debt and a projected $1.6 trillion deficit for the current fiscal year.

Here's Ribbles buddy agreeing with him and Boehner.


Taking advantage of an apparent crack in the GOP armor on the revenue side of the budget-balancing equation, President Barack Obama this week highlighted Boehner's remarks in a letter Tuesday calling for an immediate repeal of an estimated $4 billion in tax breaks for oil and gas companies.

"I was heartened that Speaker Boehner yesterday expressed openness to eliminating these tax subsidies for the oil and gas industry," Obama said in his letter to House and Senate leaders. "Our political system has for too long avoided and ignored this important step, and I hope we can come together in a bipartisan manner to get it done."

So Ribble wants to end subsidies and what does Ron Johnson want to do? 

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says one way the U.S. can attack oil prices is by drilling more in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.

At least some logic from Mr Johnson. 


For all that voted for Ribble, you can't be surprised, can you. I wonder what really happened at this past years Super Bowl party at the White House. Reid must of gotten his marching orders from POTUS.


I could guess the conversation. It probably went something like this. 


"Reid, I like you, This summer you need to start coming around to my side. There will be plenty of invites for you if you do."

“I felt that that was a regional conflict and that we should’ve stuck – I think the French should have taken the lead, they’re the closest to it,” says Ribble. “France and Italy should have played a bigger role. I wish the President had spoken to the Congress before they made the decision so he could’ve gotten feedback from the elected officials.”

Wait, I thought Ribble lives in Lawrence? Did he move to Appleton? Did he sell his house in Sherwood? Where's the media here? Back to Mr Ribbles Libya comments.


Ah, what did he say? What does "stuck" mean? Does Ribble really think Obama is going ask to get permission? Maybe he did discuss it with Ribble at the Super Bowl party and Reid just forgot. So if Obama did ask Congress, would he have said it was O K and gave him a yes vote? Let's cut to the chase, Reid is a moderate middle of the road republican. Can't take sides, can't diss the media, waiting for someone to tell him what to say or what to do. This is his first year in D C and he doesn't want to rock the boat. 


I don't know what should be done in Libya? Are people against Gaddafi supported by al-Qaeda? Do we remove Gaddafi and let another Iran happen? Do we leave Gaddafi? I am not a congressman and not privy to classified information. That's why we have congressman in Washington DC.

Is the Reign of "Czars" Over?: "

The Reign of the Czars, at least in the executive branch of the U.S. government, may be near an end. Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) offered an amendment that would block funding for the various 'czars' — policy advisers appointed by the President who did not have to face formal confirmation by the U.S. Senate, and who cannot be impeached by the House of Representatives. The amendment (to the continuing resolution which keeps the federal government operating) passed the House February 17 by a vote of 249 to 171.

The vote was largely along party lines, with Wisconsin Congressman Reid Ribble the only Republican voting against the measure. Thirteen Democrats voted for the Scalise amendment. Although most of these were “Blue Dog” Democrats from the South — Dan Boren (Okla.), Ben Chandler (Ky.), Henry Cuellar and Gene Green of Texas, Nick Rahall (W.Va.), Mike Ross (Ark.), and North Carolina's Heath Shuler, Mike McIntyre and Larry Kissell — some Democrats who have been friends of the Obama administration voted for the amendment: Jerry Costello (Ill.), Peter DeFazio (Ore.), Ed Pastor (Ariz.), and Jim Matheson (Utah)"

The only republican? Ribble wants to keep these Czars? Tell me this is a print error. Is this some deal he made with Obama at the Super Bowl Party? Is this Ribble reaching across to work with Obama and the democrats? What the hell is he thinking!


Will a Ribble supporter please explain why your guy voted no? This must be a pay back for the great food at Obamas party. Yea that's it!

I then remember an article over at the Appleton Post Crescent about the Fox Valley population increase.

APPLETON — Healthy population gains in municipalities across the Fox Cities helped lift Wisconsin's population 6 percent to 5.7 million residents, up from 5.4 million in 2000.

Some of the state's strongest growth occurred in the border communities that have sprawled along the outskirts of Appleton during the last 10 years, according to 2010 census estimates released Tuesday.

To the city's east, the village of Sherwood ballooned 64 percent this decade. The Town of Harrison, which borders Sherwood, grew by nearly 55 percent, the village of Combined Locks jumped almost 29 percent and the Town of Buchanan rose by 15 percent.

So Sherwood grew in population? Come on! So Sherwood will be gerrymandered? Any bets Sherwood will now go to the 8th congressional district from the 6th?

Seems how things work out. Well then maybe Reid Ribble can move back into his house in Sherwood? I don't know, maybe he already has!

Federal funds to demolish Green Bay’s former downtown shopping mall could be a casualty of the Republican-led assault on congressional earmarks.

U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen, D-Appleton, has pushed for $1 million in urban redevelopment funds for the city demolition project.

Kagen, however, is preparing to leave office without a federal funding commitment.

And his successor, Republican Reid Ribble, has spoken out against earmarks.

“There’s a lot of question marks around it,” Kagen spokeswoman Allison Jaslow said of Green Bay’s funding request.

“I see it as something that could actually be in jeopardy now.”

Without federal aid, city officials would be forced to find a new funding source for a central element in downtown redevelopment.

There you go Green Bay, Steve Kagen leaving you high and dry again.

Maybe if Green Bay would take care of the downtown before they buy a roller coaster (Zippin Pippin), they wouldn't be in this problem.

Glad Ribble is against Earmarks.

"One of the best things that could happen to President (Barack) Obama is what happened (Tuesday) night. This is going to make him a better president just like it helped Bill Clinton," Ribble said. "This might actually guarantee re-election. I'm fine with that. I know presidents take the credit when things are good and get blamed when they're bad. If we put 10 or 12 million Americans back to work and he gets credit for it, I'm fine with that."

Looks like the president has an ally in congress. I can't wait for President Obama's second term.
