Taste of Travels

I have so much I want to share from my recent travels, but I have fallen far behind. Below is a small sample of my photography that will hopefully give a taste of our adventures.

Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

Sancho Bay Sunset

The moon was the brightest I have ever seen. It was an incredible night and as good a night as any to practice my night photography. The mount on the left is their iconic Morro de Pico.

The pictures above are of Fernando de Noronha, a small island off the coast of Brazil. It is one of my favorite places on this earth. It is so tiny and the island makes you work for her beauty (we walked away with our fair share of bruises and bug bites), but it is simply stunning.

Kona, Hawaii

Easter Island, Chile

Sunrise at Ahu Tongariki. Easter Island is also on the top of our list of the most wonderful places.

Ocean Portraits

I love photographing water and because of its ethereal and intangible nature.  It is also because of this nature that water is difficult for me to photograph.  When you leave the shutter of your lens open and just let the movement of the water be recorded in a single image the visual effect is breathtaking... when done correctly.

Therefore, needless to say I desperately wanted to photograph the ocean when I was in Hawaii early this January.  This is the closest I've come yet to capturing the  the vision I have of water.  These photographs are definitely inspired and influenced by Svjetlana Tepavcevic whose work I recently came across (definitely check out her waves!!!).

Tulip Dance

I really love tulips, a lot.  I think they are so beautiful and charming....

...especially, when they're wilting.  They remain so graceful to the very end.  It's almost like a ballet...so gorgeous.
