A Big Kid Party

The day we got back from our Thanksgiving trip, I gave Matt a surprise birthday party, which he almost didn’t make it to. He had to go to the school to do some lab work and then was going to the gym to workout. I tried to guilt-trip him into coming home earlier but he wasn’t buying it. Luckily I had Cameron as an accomplice to help convince Matt that he should play some video games instead. It worked! But Matt later said he was thinking about going to the gym anyway and ditching Cameron. Nov302009_0007

Good thing he didn’t. He would have missed out on a night of his favorite things: video games, pizza, candy, and friends. Nov302009_0014Nov302009_0016

I also made him an awesome confetti cake with robots on the top. I’m going to have to keep working on my cake decorating for next year.

Another Shower

The Chapman girls put together a wonderful shower for me. They invited all the Chapman family, our ward neighbors, and friends. Thanks to everyone who helped. Our baby girl has so many cute things now. I can’t wait till we can actually see her in them!

Nina made some delicious Bundt cakes.

I have some very talented people in my family. They inspire me to want to make some of my own things before our little girl gets here.

Jessica made this binky leash and hair clips

Ann used the Bedazzler we gave her to make a shirt for our little one, whose name will most likely be Lily. Ann also made this adorable skirt.

My mom has been making and sending me super cute crocheted burp cloths and a bib ever since we announced we were having a baby. She’s the best!

Matt’s cousin made this adorable diaper cake decorated with handmade hair clips and headbands. She also made this pink tutu for Lily’s first photo shoot. I can’t wait! You’ll have to look at her website to see all the cute things she makes.

Thanksgiving Eve

The night before Thanksgiving, the Chapman family gathered at the Well’s home for some yummy homemade stromboli and salad. Way to go Ann. It was delicious! That night we also had our Christmas gift exchange. We drew names then drove to Walmart, bought our gifts, and went back to exchange them. It was super quick and fun. We all tried to avoid each other as we were shopping.

Jason had some pre-dinner appetizers with the girls.

Daniel and Jessica got goldfish. They were SO excited.

Jason and Candice got Christmas towels and dishes.

We got some games. Matt was ecstatic when he opened the Twilight game!Nov252009_0060 Nov252009_0061

And Brian and Ann got the best gift of all, the GeMagic Bedazzler, along with hot chocolate and goodies. Ann and Matt have a sort of running joke with Christmas gifts. One year Matt gave Ann an Easy Bake oven. I wonder what the gag gift will be next year.

We had to get a picture of us together. And to show off my new haircut that Nina treated me to for my birthday. Thanks again Nina.

Grandma even joined us for the party.

If dentistry doesn’t work out…

We found out last night that Matt is a pretty decent gambler. My company had their Christmas party last night and had a casino night. We each started out with $50,000 in chips. We had a lot of fun with our fake money, no stress at all. By the end of the night Matt had turned his $50,000 into $1,570,000 playing Blackjack and a little Roulette. Now we know Vegas is an option if Matt can’t find a job :) I didn’t do so bad myself, ending with about $300,000. I did much better at Roulette. Black jack was Matt’s game.
