"Tried It Out of Frustration and Actually Stayed" Posted 2026-05-07
Pros: I will be honest I only tried this because I was fed up with what we were using before. Did not go in with high hopes. But the document and spreadsheet editors actually impressed me. Everything works the way you expect it to, files open clean, formatting does not go haywire when someone on a different tool sends you something. As someone who handles the IT side of things the self hosting option was something I really needed and it delivered. Getting the API connected was smoother than I anticipated too which was a nice surprise.
Cons: First time setup if you are going self hosted needs some dedication. I spent a good chunk of time on it before things were running smoothly. Also if your spreadsheet files are really big you will feel a slight slowdown here and there. Small thing but I want to be upfront about it.
Overall: We switched because our old tool kept getting more expensive and delivering less. I did not want to deal with another big SaaS bill every month for something we barely used fully. ONLYOFFICE came up and I gave it a shot mostly out of curiosity. Few months later the team is comfortable, files are working fine, nothing has broken in a way that caused us real stress and I have not had anyone come to me complaining about it. That last part is huge for me honestly. When a tool is invisible and just works quietly in the background that is when you know it is a good one. The free starting point made it easy to try without pressure and the value you get even on the free version is really solid. Happy with it and would tell anyone in a similar situation to just try it.

"Been Using It for Months and Still No Complaints" Posted 2026-05-07
Pros: So I have been on the IT side for a while and finding a tool that actually does what it says is rarer than it should be. ONLYOFFICE does. I mainly use the document and spreadsheet editors and both feel solid. What stood out early on was that files just open correctly. Sounds simple but when you are constantly sharing stuff with people on different software that becomes a big deal real fast. We also needed to keep everything on our own server and that worked out without any major issues. Took some figuring out but got there.
Cons: I will be real, the setup is not quick. If you are going the self hosted route block out some time for it. Also when spreadsheets get heavy with data there is a slight lag. Nothing that broke my workflow but I did notice it a few times.
Overall: I came across this while looking for alternatives to what we were using before. We were basically paying too much for something that was not doing much more than this does for free. Gave ONLYOFFICE a shot and it has been a pretty smooth few months. The editors work, file compatibility has been reliable, the team got used to it quicker than I expected and I have not had any real fires to put out because of it. That last part alone makes it worth it for me. It is not the most exciting tool in the world but it is honest, it is stable and it respects the fact that not everyone wants to hand their data over to a big cloud platform. Really good value overall and I would recommend it without hesitation.

"Ease of Using ONLYOFFICE Docs Without Customer Support Needs" Posted 2026-05-06
Pros: It gives you the ability to design documents in a way that suits your preferences, reducing the need to constantly search or reformat them later. Once a document is set up in a clear and visually comfortable layout, it can be reused without repeated adjustments, saving time and effort.
Cons: I can navigate it effectively without frequently contacting customer care, so I don’t have a specific strategy for support interaction and do not encounter any significant challenges.
Overall: It is easy to upload documents, customize workflows, and send them to the appropriate parties without the hassle of printing, signing, or scanning. To manage or access the documents, we simply log in to the account, where everything is hosted and readily available. This eliminates the need to search through physical files or paper-based storage, making document handling much more efficient.

Pros: I have been using ONLYOFFICE Docs for quite some time and am very satisfied with it overall. It is easy to use, works reliably, and makes document creation and editing very convenient. "Good collaboration tools for a freelancer who doesn't want to pay for Google Workspace" Posted 2026-05-06
Pros: Real-time co-editing works reliably, great MS Office format compatibility, free tier is genuinely useful, no forced cloud lock-in
Cons: UI feels slightly dated, mobile app is underwhelming
Overall: I started using ONLYOFFICE mainly for solo work, but the collaboration features surprised me. Sharing a doc with a client and editing together in real time — without either of us needing an account on the same platform — is genuinely useful. It handles .docx files well enough that I've never had a client complain about formatting. Not flawless, but a solid free alternative that earns its place in my workflow.

"Glad I Gave This a Proper Chance" Posted 2026-05-06
Pros: Honestly I was not planning to stick with it long term when I first tried it. But a few months later here I am still using it. The document and spreadsheet editors are genuinely good. Nothing flashy but everything works the way it should. I open files from clients or teammates who use completely different tools and they always come through clean. That matters more than people think. The self hosting option was also a big reason we chose this and it has not let us down.
Cons: First time setup is a bit of a process. I would not call it difficult but you do need to sit with it for a while. Spreadsheets with a lot of data can feel a tiny bit slow at times. Not a dealbreaker just something I noticed here and there.
Overall: I work in IT so I have seen a lot of these tools come and go. Most of them either cost too much or just do not work well enough to justify the switch. ONLYOFFICE felt different. It is simple, it is stable and it does not try to do too much. My team got comfortable with it pretty fast which honestly surprised me. File sharing has been smooth, nothing has broken in a way that caused real problems, and knowing our data stays on our own server is a big relief. The fact that you can start completely free and still get solid functionality is something I genuinely respect. Not a perfect tool but a really honest one. That is enough for me.

"ONLYOFFICE Docs is amazing " Posted 2026-05-06
Pros: ONLYOFFICE Docs offers a free tier, so there is no need to purchase templates since many are already included, similar to Microsoft Office. It supports Word, Excel, and other document formats, including PDFs. The loading performance is smooth, and the interface is visually well-designed, making it comfortable to use across both web and desktop environments.
Cons: The main issue I’ve experienced with ONLYOFFICE Docs is that it starts very slowly each time I open it on desktop, which can be frustrating and affects overall productivity.
Overall: ONLYOFFICE Docs offers a more affordable, almost free version that people within an organization can use, while still providing decent cloud storage and essential office functionality. It delivers features comparable to Microsoft Office, with minimal glitches and reliable offline performance. Additionally, it includes built-in AI features that enhance productivity and document handling.

Features such as real-time collaboration, version control, templates, and integration with other tools also help streamline my workflow and improve productivity.
