It used to be a good application. If it still works for you, that's fine. But I prefer much more to use LabPlot now, which is also open-source and cross-platform.

I have been using SciDaVis for the entire duration of my academic studies. I fail to remember the number of headaches that this software has caused me, the heap of hours wasted on corrupted project files, the amount of pain that I have been through. This software has always been buggy, and always will. I haven't seen any improvement in 6 years of usage. Not only you'll find yourself learning to use the bad copy of a data analysis software, whose user experience is dreadful to begin with, you'll find yourself learning (the hard way) to find out what causes certain bugs, just to avoid those features altogether. Hopefully I'll hand in my final project by the end of the month. I won't have to suffer any longer from this fiendish monster. I won't have to deal with your bugs anymore, with your crashes, with your wrong formatting of numbers in tables, with your senseless resizing of texts and graphs. You have corrupted my work for the very last time. This is it.. it's over.

The graphs can be attractive, but half the time when opening my project, all the formatting would change. Trying to change formatting on datasets within the same graph, changing one set would cause half the others to change randomly, but there was no explicit command to change multiple datasets to the same format, or to have a default format for graphs. No defaulting ability at all, honestly. The one star review was earned by the constant crashing. I've got a paper due in under a month, and multiple times have lost considerable amounts of work because SciDavis crashes halfway through formatting a graph. Even when I've saved work, it doesn't always come back. Buggy as hell.

I love this. I searched through dozens of really terrible, useless, and outdated plotting apps before I found this. It works great and has many useful features for many types of data. Installation was quick, simple, and it worked immediately, solid and stable. It runs on the pc and isn't some subscription software/cloud/adware scam like most companies sell these days. If you had a donate button I would have sent a donation. Thank you very much!
