The first beta release of the Qt 6.12 toolkit is now available for testing. Qt 6.12 is packing a number of refinements and new features compared to earlier Qt6 releases. For paying Qt commercial customers, Qt 6.12 is also going to be the latest Qt6 Long Term Support (LTS) release.

Qt 6.12 is promoting its Qt Canvas Painter module out of a technology preview state into a fully-maintained/supported Qt module. Qt 6.12 also saw a number of improvements to the Qt core code, Qt Canvas Painter can be used for rendering 2D graphs with the Qt Graphs module, client-side request compression for Qt GRPC, indirect rendering support for QRhi, Vulkan VK_EXT_device_fault support for QRhi, and many other additions.

For those interested in Qt for AR/VR use, the Qt Quick 3D XR module can now be configured for mono view configuration to enable Qt Quick 3D XR applications to run on 2D XR devices such as augmented reality (AR) glasses.

More details on the many changes coming to Qt 6.12 can be found via the work-in-progress release notes.
