  • Nervous Tissue: Nervous tissue transmits and processes information through electrical and chemical signals. It includes neurons and neuroglial cells.

An organ is a group of tissues connected to form a structural unit that performs a single function in a multicellular organism. An organ sits between a tissue and an organ system in the hierarchy of life. Similar cell types come together to form tissues that perform a certain purpose. An organ is made up of a variety of tissues that work together to provide a certain function.

 For instance, the intestinal wall is made of both smooth muscle and epithelial tissue. An organ system, also known as a biological system or body system, is made up of two or more organs that cooperate to carry out a certain physiological function.
