iptables-legacy/iptables-nft
With recent posts to arch-dev-public "News draft: iptables now defaults to the nft backend", apparently iptables will switch from legacy backend to nft. This will change package names. "iptables" will be what was "iptables-nft" and "iptables-legacy" will be what was "iptables". Will this wiki page be updated before the change occurs? I need to stay with iptables-legacy. Will there be an iptables-legacy page describing how to remain on what is currently iptables, and anything else required other than uninstalling iptables and installing iptables-legacy? David C. - Why update before the actual change occurs? That's confusing and makes no sense.
- As for the latter, my experience in other distros shows that simply installing and using
iptables-legacyshould be enough. A note about it in the article would be enough I think. - Hanabishi (talk) 09:41, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
