Sometimes when you order off Amazon and the like (Etsy, Ebay) you get little thank yous. The more religious sellers put bible quotes on them
I’m guessing it is something like that, but more escalated like a pamphlet?
One time I got a lucky coin from someone in China. I thought it was a cute gesture.

I’ve only seen chick tracts in person once. No, twice. I’d be stealing all of them if I ever saw them again!
I was raised giving them out to people. In my adult life, I’ve seen them left behind on public transit and in laundromats.
I had one given to me along with other religious pamphlets on my door by a neighbor, and someone left a huge stack in a gyno’s office. I have literally never seen them any other time, but I guess I don’t wander around a lot to be given them.
I’ve been handed them on the street. Found them in bus stations and train stations, too.
