Hello! Found this little creature in one of the elevators in my apartment building. Never seen one before, I love that the wings look so much like feathers. My immediate guess is a moth of some kind, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to be certain. Any idea what it might be?
I let it crawl onto my hand and left it on a leaf outside, always happy to help even the smallest friends!
Kinda looks like a generic night moth (nattfjäril)…
That’s not much help… I’m interested in what species. And I haven’t seen one that looks like this at all before. The wings looking like separate feathers, the two things sticking out the head (not the antennae), the slim back part (kinda hard to see in the photos). And it didn’t seem to be able to close its wings like moths do, they were like this even as it was walking around the wall and on my hand. That was the first thing that made me think it might not be a moth.
I looked up and went through lists of moths in Sweden but none looked close enough to be the same species, also tried bug identifying sites/apps but only got wrong results.
Möth. It seeks lämp.
