I have Fedora on my laptop. I’ll often connect to my VPN and then manually change the DNS. Annoying, but usually works.
Another method if I’m using said WiFi for long periods of time is to use my travel router. Log into the portal on my laptop and then change the MAC of the router to that of my laptop and put it in repeater mode. Then connect the laptop to the router. Equally as annoying, but worth it.
I did this when I studied abroad in a foreign country. I also went to a local bookstore and bought a bunch of kid’s books. My Professor loved the idea and stole the books to make photocopies for everyone. This was all while I was totally immersed, so that helps.
I’ve always found the wealth roller coaster of this island interesting. They’ve pretty much mined the shit out of it by now but they were at one point one of the wealthiest nations on Earth.

It is absolutely propoganda. It is misinformation used to turn shoppers against each other and use them to protect corporate assets. I can recall multiple videos of security agents being unable to physically stop shoplifters at the door, but another shopper(s) came to the rescue and joined the scuffle. Why the fuck is that anyone’s business but the business in question? It’s not. But they love that you think it is.

I guess you use the DHCP-assigned DNS first, then change it to what you want after connecting. Tailscale is a great way to access your home network. Headscale is another one but I haven’t used it.
I use a gl.inet router. They’re like $30. They use OpenWRT.
