This is a marvel of an open source project. The de-facto open reference manager. After dabbing with all the (trap) alternatives (mendeley, papers, papercube, whatever), i came back to the only alternative that allows me to quickly find and drop a pdf.
I still kinda wish for the one feature that is missing, an effective metadata scanner. But that's a minor request. Given how long i've been using your software for free, gratitude is all i have for Bibdesk developers.
Amazing update in v1.8, looks and runs better than ever on m1 macs, HUGE thanks to the developers, how can I donate money to this project!?
This is an awesome piece of software, does everything I need it for and much more. The dev support is outstanding.
I asked about the possibility to maybe add an option to support all lower case field names when saving the files. After a constructive discussion, the developer decided to just always save field names all lowercase in the future, because having an option for this or even controlling the casing manually per field (as I originally suggested), would be overkill. I agree with this decision and it shows, that the developers have a good sense for design IMHO.
Thanks a lot!

The guys behind BibDesk are amazing.
They've just implemented the new SPIRES interface, although it seem to be beyond feasibility at first glance, and they did so just a couple of weeks after I requested this feature.
This software has a great history, but also seems to have a bright future, too.

This is a GREAT piece of software. I've tried other reference managers, and prefer BibDesk for its:
simplicity,
versatility,
customer support, and
cost (can't beat free).
I've now accumulated hundreds to thousands of references, and have BibDesk "bibliography" files from over a decade of use. Sublimely robust and convenient.
I was inspired to write this review when citing a patent for the first time, and wondered how to download a 3rd party "patent" citation type. After a quick google search I found that, of course, BibDesk is already natively capable of creating custom citation types, as noted in the 2009(!) closed feature request.
Thank you Christiaan, Adam, Michael and others for your continued efforts & support!
