YouTube-DL-PyTK (formerly known as YouTube-DL-GTK) is just a graphical launcher for yt-dlp. Its purpose is simple; to facilitate the downloading of non-copyright-protected videos from certain internet websites including YouTube.

Source code is included and can be executed directly if you have Python and the proper dependencies available.

I digitally sign some files in my releases. If you'd like to verify those signatures, you can find my PGP/GPG keys at:
https://marcusadams.me/keys.html

If you'd like to read the source code without downloading anything, you can do so on the project's Gitlab at:
https://gitlab.com/gerowen/youtube-dl-pytk

If you'd like to donate there's several ways to do so:

Features

  • Download videos from YouTube and a few other sites
  • Gives a graphical error notification in the event of a problem
  • .deb package available for easy installation on Debian based systems
  • Can be ran without installing
  • Tarball/source version will run on all supported systems, no digging for the right executable for your OS
  • Displays a terminal with the output of yt-dlp in the background so that if something out of the ordinary happens, the output of youtube-dl is visible instead of being hidden so you can diagnose what happened yourself.
