Bristol is choosing the wrong audio output device (built in audio vs JBL external USB (IEC-958))

I have an external USB JBL Audio Interface (IEC 958) that is the default output device. VLC, Audacity, Audacious all use the external device. When I startBristol, it shows that it is using Plug PCM: Hardware PCM card 0 'HDA Intel PCH' device 0 subdevice 0, which if I am not mistaken, is the built in audio, which I do not use or connect speakers to.

How can I direct Bristol to use the JBL External Audio device?
