  • I like the overall thing, but, how do you explain the loss of cultural memory?

I guess at some point, the false humans could/would program their “global” firmwares to forget, but, at that point they are completely at the mercy of the technology’s ability to self-perpetuate; if it develops problems, they will not even know that it exists (so presumably nanotech) and therefore not know how to fix.

One could posit some group of hidden technologists of indeterminate size, who maintain the systems. Perhaps they are even AI nanomachines that walk around with the very sophisticated automatons.

Biggest question/doubt on my part is, why the hell would any being so advanced as to build a Cylon, ever want to be human?

  • Blender is Free Software, not Open Source.

Blender will never enshittify. Free Software does not enshittify.

Open Source happens when the devs plan to enshittify sometime in the future, so they do not apply the GPL. You can trust Free Software, whereas trusting Open Source is highly likely to find you needing to pay a subscription, or else the software suddenly becoming garbage (ie. Google Search).

You do love something, but it’s not Open Source.

edit: The responders all seem to think that Open Source is simply an observation about the source code. Yes, Free Software is open source, but it is not Open Source, which is the initiative started in the mid-90s, long after GNU/Linux had begun to completely take over all the server rooms.

So: There is open source code, which yes, is a feature, perhaps the most useful one, of Free Software. But Open Source (capitalized) is a thing invented by some corporate lickspittle, specifically to acquire the methodology, but NOT the Freedom ideology, of Free Software. When you mash them up, you are doing the work of capitalists for them.

Sometime in the last two years, the number of people consider themselves to be programmers has at least doubled. We have a giant contingent of people who have never gone through the hell of actually developing a skill but are now “developers” in much the same way that typing “make me a song like ______” now makes you a musician. No theory, no chords, no building of callouses, just load up our AutoPlagio and dance the night away!

And these sudden Developers and such are all very upset at having their legitimacy questioned by a bunch of… of… NERDS.

It’s important you know, especially if you are young, that you are currently immersed in a mental environment so toxic, that if you felt good most of the time it would indicate that something is wrong with you.

I know nothing about your life, so I really have little to offer, other than that: it is normal to feel terrible when the world is in the state that it is currently in. Many would say you have to get on with it, and they’re right on a certain level, but you can’t suppress reality 100% of the time.

If was really presuming to help you, we would have to talk a lot and kinda figure out the root of this self-disdain, cause there is something at the bottom of it, and spoiler, I AM 100% positive that someone else put it there, one way or another.
