I literally say when the shit with Venezuela started that a ton of “leftists” as in “left wing politics” or people still fans of Obama - they supported the US action against Venezuela. How does that make sense if they do not think the US is still a democratic country. If you think your country isn’t “A” and accuses another country of not being “A” you’d call it hypocritical and not believe it. But they did.

There is a serious disconnect there, and I believe it starts with doublethink or a type of disconnect where people know the US is not democratic, but still believe the US is democratic and fighting the good fight against “authoritarian” regimes.

It certainly ruined Venezuela, because liberals and leftists still believe the US is democratic and has the moral high ground to denigrate and interfere.

That was the point since I’m interested in the social and psychological phenomenon. There is evidence to prove what I said in western newspapers and Ukrainian academic sources, although it’s not easy to find.

But my point is that as soon as something contradicts on someone’s worldview these days, people loose their reason and hurl accusations. The possibility of being wrong is just immediately rejected. The enemy must be lying and evil or deluded and inferior.

It’s a “category error” like saying hydrodynamics are just quantum mechanics. It does not describe the complex emergent behavior and doesn’t really tell you anything. Or it’s like saying psychology is how the neurons and synapses connect with each and exchange signals and that is all - this would not explain the mental processes between a marmot and a human. I misread your last sentence in a way that create a different problem: Imagine AI starts producing more and more proofs at a pace that humans can’t keep up with. So science advances, and humans can even make use of it, but can’t verify or really understand the theory any more. Like we get better working machines, materials and processes, but do not understand why because we can’t keep up. If that happened then that I guess would a significant stage in the singularity.

Well truly profitable applications for LLMs are pretty limited so far, but they will come. Lets say you can replace a tax advisor / accountant with a specialized LLM agent (one that doesn’t hallucinate tax code lol). Imagine oyu have an open source project that uses a coding AI agent to frequently update and retrain the tax LLM with the new regulations and laws and unit tests all this. So it’s ultimately easy to use, you just talk to the tax AI agent. Or alternatively, because they managed to make open weight LLMs illegal because they are piracy because they use books and posts without permission to train and can’t afford to pay the license fees. Now everybody has to use a commercial AI tax service. At the same price at what it cost previously to hire a real human.

As AI models get better they replace human labor. This is a problem under capitalism, otherwise we could just all just be working less and chill. But it gets even worse if “we” (like the 99%) can’t make use of open source models. Then the plutocrats get to own this newly replaced labor as free labor and collect rent.

This is why I believe the IP argument of anti-AI is so dangerous. They can afford to pay license fees, we / open source can’t. See patents, or see healthcare insurance purposefully making healthcare costs go up.
