Germany’s support for Israel shows that Germany learned nothing from the tragedy of the Holocaust.
The Holocaust teaches us that genocide and mass murder are wrong and evil. Yet modern German government supports Israel in comitting genocide against Palestinians.
There will be another memorial in Berlin 50 years from now, commemorating the Palestinians that were killed in the genocide Germany supported.
Germany learned plenty. They learned, for example, that by doing your atrocities in service of the hegemon you’ll be rewarded. What wasn’t okay was doing them while attempting to become the hegemon.
Germany learned that everything else they did was fine and ok, except that Jewish people are off limits.
